    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

All vacuum leaks are gone, and the car's running like a top. The obnoxious whistle/whine came from the throttle body, not the intake manifold. Granted, I still found an improperly torqued bolt on the IM, but the TB...whew, that was something else. I had the pleasure of hearing it quiet down and...

    Just another yellow P5 build...

Man that thing is pristine! Makes me want to see about cleaning my engine bay.

    What could this noise be?

I'll write those down. Thanks man

    What could this noise be?

Yessir, using Torque Pro, I set up two meters for LTFT and STFT. Really handy to investigate P0171!

    What could this noise be?

Solved! A bolt, yet again, wasn't torqued properly on the IM, and the throttle body's bolts were not torqued. The whine is gone, and now my LTFT and STFT measurements have returned to normal. I'm rejoicing!

    PCB's Unbuild Thread

Wow, you have a rare Wagner shorty header on your parts car! While deconstructing this P5, you should set it aside an try to clean it up. You could make a little bit of cash on that. Anyhow, you should get a fancy torque wrench that shows you how hard you're pulling on the bolts to loosen them...

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

Did some research, and it looks like a squeal at idle after the operational temperarure is reached is indicative of a poorly mated gasket surface. I'm going to have to go in and double check my torque values again...at least I'm pretty good at tearing it all apart and putting it back together...

Lmao pcb advertising your unbuild page in my build page :^) If I ever get this damn car fixed, I might be digging in there for some camshaft goodies.

    What could this noise be?

Haven't seen you in a while! Man I've done so much to my P5 since lol. Do you mean intake manifold gasket or manifold itself? I only recently installed this IM + MP3 ECU combo, and have destroyed one manifold gasket by neglecting to torque the bolts down properly. A new one was put in with...

    What could this noise be?

Anyone? I'm out here again, and I can clude that it's at least independent of the brake booster line, interior electronic accessories such as AC or lights. **NEW** It did NOT appear until car was warm up to temp. Drove around without the noise for maybe 2 minutes. It just sounds like it's...

It's gotta be 12mm. Can't quite recall myself, honestly, but that's what came to mind first

This is going to be cool! Can't wait to see what those pistons will look like on that car you're taking apart. Wonder if they're all clogged up and trashed around the rings, which makes all of our cars smoke so badly.

    What could this noise be?

Hey guys, my car developed an incredibly irritating high-pitched frequency at closed throttle: Granted, acoustics are hard to make out in an engine bay, but it sounds like it could be coming from the throttle body(?) or somewhere around it. It doesn't sound like a typical exhaust leak, but...

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

New(?!) Leak/Problem When I showed up to the time attack, I heard a new ghastly noise: VOLUME WARNING It sounds like it's coming from the throttle body area, and as you can hear, it goes quiet with throttle. Don't mind that draping solenoid in the upper-left corner of the screen, though...

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

I wasn't brand new, unfortunately. I speculate that it was a good condition junkyard fuel tank, which may explain the crappy stripped out screws. Jeez, the last fuel tank's sending unit screws were fine...and yeah, I do have a JIS screwdriver. Bought it for this job, and never got to use them...

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

Dang it!! I went in to try and see if I could change out my fuel sending unit + pump snd sock, but some dolt before me stripped out the majority of the screws. They destroyed about 5, and then called it quits. I , uh, don't want to blow myself up, so I guess I'll be leaving it alone for now...

    [DEFUNCT] The College-Budget P5

An inconsequential update: After a bit of discussion and vehicle inspection, I fixed up the vacuum leak. Check out this thread: https://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123867942-Sanity-Check-for-P0171 Well, despite the vacuum leak, it seems like fueling is still part of the problem. A...

    Sanity Check for P0171

Yo PCB, don't digress yet! After driving around today, believe it or not, P0171 came back on (after I drove it hard for a somewhat extended period of time--was in a cruise). Only thing is, my STFT stayed where it should the whole time and never jumped above 10% or so. It appeared that my LTFT...

    Sanity Check for P0171

Found and fixed the culprit! When installing my IM, I did not properly torque down one/two particular bolts near the middle of the head. This, in turn, caused the IM gasket to collapse at the top and allow lots of air to flow in. Damn. A new gasket was dropped in, everything was torqued to...

    White wheels on Red MP5

Check out LankyKiwi's build thread. He had white wheels on his red SP20, and they looked nice while they lasted
