    Deleting oil cooler

No oil cooler could have very bad consequences, burning the oil, damaging the engine and the engine overheating.

First time Car and Mazda owner needs guidance

Hi, welcome to the 5 Family! Usually they're super reliable... if you stick with the service/maintenance plan on the user guide/service book. At 107k km, knowing what previous owner(s) had done so you know what's already done. Plugs are coming up soon. Some would do a preemptive transmission...

    Recommendations for new brake pads?

As a Virginia driver, defensive driving is probably why I'm still alive. It's an asylum on the roads here. Like a real life interactive dashcam video forum. Thanks for that tirerack test, very interesting!

    Recommendations for new brake pads?

I think it was power stop that was put on last time - dusty, squealling in reverse stopping, and braking at highway speeds fully loaded could be butt clenching moments. That's what has me avoiding 3rd party rebrand junk this time around.

    Recommendations for new brake pads?

Time for some new brake pads. What's the recomendations these days.. OE, Wagner, Akebono...? I see there's been large move to ceramic from manufacturers, less dust and all but bite is lower 🤔 and with a sometimesfully load up car that doesnt sound good.

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

The dialog with insurance went like this after their assesor was done... Insurance: Our estimated repair cost is at our valuation (KBB) of the car. It's a total loss and were not directing the repairs be done. We will send you a check for our estimated value (KBB). Me: Can I take the car back...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

What have I done to my Mazda 5? 🤦‍♂️ Sad day indeed. '07/90k and running fine, even still drives unaffected... but insurance is calling it a "total loss." Madness! 😡

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Aw that's awful! I've nearly been hit in a similar situation someone backing up. One way to take the repair cost down is rely on color matched parts from recycled/refurbished suppliers. Bodywork shops will be able to source it. When a basketball hoop blew down on my 5, they body shop sourced a...

Yah, that sounds about the age*miles for it.

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

What year and mileage? It not uncommon for weldseams and gaskets to leak after the compression and vibrations. That you feel heat down in the footwell points to a failure in the area. OE may cost more but they're much better quality than most aftermarket exhaust parts.

That look fantastic! What model radio is that? I haven't seen a dash kit like that, for max sized screens before either.

    Ignition falling out (2006 Mazda5)

+1 for a McGyver solution. I read the whole "Security and locks" section of the service manual and didn't see any mention of the receiver antenna ring being tuned, other than "Replacing the coil antenna: It is not necessary to reset the immobilizer system." 🤷‍♂️

    Ignition falling out (2006 Mazda5)

Taken from my 2007, also 1st gen, service manual. From what you described, sounds like the antenna rings is loose, probably from plastic retaining tabs being brittle and snapping. Replacing that part doesn't look all that hard. But until you go in there and inspect what's broken you don't know...
