Mazda 5 in the news in a round about way...

I don't think it is just the Big 3 that have that mindset... I'm not saying Kia/Hyundai will become the next Toyota but too many people are dismissing them as a non-factor in the auto industry.

Mazda 5 in the news in a round about way...

I wouldn't sell Kia short anymore. They're actually one of the few car companies that have weathered the worldwide car recession pretty well. In fact they've (Kia/Hyundai) already passed Honda and Ford in sales to be the 4th largest in the world. And they've been getting better and better...

Mazda 5 in the news in a round about way...

I think the last quote is telling... "Unless Americans embrace them, it will be a difficult thing (segment) to develop," I still believe that most companies are still gunshy about bringing a mini-minivan model over to N.A. There has been alot of talk but I believe Ford is really the ony one to...

Honda Freed: a Fit-based JDM microvan (merged)

These vehicles are nice to discuss but I agree with an earlier post. This probably won't make it to North America.

    Check your speedometer

A stand-alone speed trap might not be 100% accurate because the don't always calibrate them precisely. They are there just to get people's attention and let them know how fast they are generally going. But a police officer with a radar gun is fairly accurate because they have calibrate them...

    Check your speedometer

Mile markers and a stopwatch is probably the cheapest (but more accurate) way to check your speedometer. I wouldn't rely on a GPS unit.

    Check your speedometer

Why are you so quick to assume that the speedometer is off and not the GPS? I don't know what type of GPS you have so it's hard to determine but many cheaper GPS units are well known to be "off" by as much as 5-10% depending on the number satellites and also atmospheric conditions. I'm not...

    5 most under appreciated cars?

I think all these cars (minus the Fusion) have one thing in common. Small marketing budgets. Most people know that the products most people buy are not usually the "best" or the best value, but they are simply the best marketed products. For the Fusion, I think it is also a combination of bad...

What don't you like about your 5, and what fixes have you used?

For all the problems and annoyances that everyone has listed (including me)... I still remind myself that if I had to do it all over again, I'd still buy the Mazda5 hands down. Even with it's shortcomings it still is one of the best vehicles in its class (if one actually exists for the Mazda5).

    2010 Mazda 5 commercials

What??? A Mazda5 commercial? Hard to believe but it's good to hear that they are finally advertising it. I didn't think that would happen until the new 2011 model came out.

    Hi! from a lurker

The 2 mpg gas mileage can't argue with. But MPG also depends alot on how you drive too. Generally MT last longer but my wife's AT Accord went to 220K before the transmission went out. But one thing I forgot to mention is that the resale/trade-in value of MTs vs ATs is lower. About 10 years...

What don't you like about your 5, and what fixes have you used?

    1. I guess it is subjective because I love the arm rests. (but then again I'm short 5'7) 2. There are probably some aftermarket sun visor extensions out there. Of the 4 you listed, this is probably the easiest one to fix. 3. Wind noise - I don't drive with the rear windows down very much so...

    Hi! from a lurker

When I learned to drive (MT) it was in a small city with little traffic. And I have to confess, I thought I was so "cool" because I could drive stick and my friends couldn't. But once I moved out the to a big city with all the traffic (and grew up a bit), I soon learned that it isn't all that...

    Hi! from a lurker

Yeah this is a bit off topic... but it's interesting. I'm glad you brought up cursive writing because that is exactly what is happening to the MT. There are just FEWER and FEWER vehicles on the road that are MT. Unfortunately I don't have up to date stats but the percentage of cars with MT has...

    Hi! from a lurker

Again, it's pride. If you learn stick... Wonderful. Don't get me wrong. It definitely is a skill that is useful. But simply telling people they need to learn stick just because they need to be able to drive any car is just silly. I don't feel any superior to any other driver just because I...

It definitely looks like an inventory issue. Interestingly some of the local dealers already have the 2010 is stock..

huh?? What does this thread have to do with the end of the world? It's just a thread about Sept 09 sales.

    Sept. 09 Sales - Mazda5 plummet

Am I reading that right? Only 652 Mazda5's sold in September. Not sure if that is an inventory problem but 652 is a very low number. Just for comparison, the MX-5 sold 502...

The Car So Nice We Had To Buy It Twice!

The Car So Nice We Had To Buy It Twice!

After reading all your comments this one seems a bit out of character for you. It is fine to have your opinion about insurance fraud, stupid decisions and endangering the public (I probably would agree in perhaps a smaller degree), but it doesn't appear that you seem that genuine is knowing that...
