    Mazda5: The modern compromise

Funny thing, up until our Mazda5 I was NEVER into cars. They were always just something that got you from point A to point B. I never understood how people could be so into their car. Now I understand.

    Mazda5: The modern compromise

Nice article. I think it touches on everything that Mazda5 owners know and appreciate already. It just needs to be advertised more.

got a present in the mail!

I guess it depends on the dealership. Can't believe I'm saying this but I actually like my Mazda dealership.

got a present in the mail!

I got a sticker but more importantly I got a coupon book from my Mazda dealership. One was for one dent/ding removal (worth $75). Used it this weekend and the ding is completely gone. IMO way more valuable than a mug.

    Will Mazda survive?

Yeah, I'd agree. "Small and Lean" is good in many businesses but in the car industry, that is NOT a good term in this current climate. Don't get me wrong, I do think Mazda is a solid well run company. They just need some financial backing for the long haul.

    April / May 2009 US Mazda5 Sales

I'd say "a" is probably a bigger factor. It's hard to sell a car these days without good incentives.

    April / May 2009 US Mazda5 Sales

I don't think the numbers will really show any improvement until after the summer. It was near the end of the summer/beginning of Fall 2008 when the car market began to crash. Up until that point Mazdas were selling at a decent clip. But still...Only 1200 Mazda5's sold in the entire month of...

    Will Mazda survive?

I sure hope Mazda survives as an independent company... but I predict that the landscape of the car industry is going to look drastically different in 12 months. Domestically it has already reached that point. There probably will be alot more consolidation. Mazda has a very strong lineup so...

    Will Mazda survive?

I don't think they'll go bankrupt. If anything they might get bought up by another car company.

    Will Mazda survive?

They used to own 33.4% stake in Mazda (controlling stake) but sold 20% of it to raise cash. They still own 13% of Mazda but because of Detroits woes, it no longer can bankroll Mazda's own debt. The problem that Mazda is going to face in the near future is credit.

    Will Mazda survive?

The other factor is weakness of the US dollar which makes all of Mazda's cars more expensive to sell in the US.

    Will Mazda survive?

The positives to Mazda is that it is small and focused (they've kept the same slogan for over a decade) and almost all of their vehicles are decent. They also have been through hard times before so they know a bit or two about survival. But the problem is that they lost the backing of Ford so...

    Will Mazda survive?

Just read an article that discussed the survival of Mazda. What does everyone here think? http://www.detnews.com/article/20090521/AUTO01/905210359/1148/AUTO01/Key+to+survival+for+Mazda+may+be+the+city+it+calls+home

    Minivan of the future

Nice... I can just imagine Mazda's new song/slogan... "haul, haul, haul..." (lol) but then again, the Mazda5 probably needs a more powerful engine in its next redesign to really make it accurate.

How many Mazda5's has your car sold?

I've shown it to plenty of people but no one bought one.

    Minivan of the future

I think most likely that is what the Mazda5 is going to end up being classified as. When you say "a smaller minivan" it is simple and everyone knows what you are talking about...

    What IS the Mazda5, Anyhow?

Looks a bit like a longer Honda Fit but definitely doesn't look anything like a Matrix. I mean the Matrix is a decent car but it doesn't look like the Mazda5 or vice versa.

    No respect...

I just read the April 2009 issue of Consumer Reports... Guess what car/vehicle made it on the "Most Overlooked Car" list?

    No respect...

A agree with both comments. I was being a bit facetious in my original post.. I do think the CEO does KNOW of the Mazda5. I just don't think it gets the attention it deserves compared to the rest of the lineup... esp compared to the CX7 and CX9s which are piling up on the lots.

    No respect...

The Mazda5 is like the Rodney Dangerfield of cars... Even Jim O'Sullivan, the CEO of Mazda North American Operations, in a recent interview about the state of Mazda manages to mention every single car in their lineup except one model.... http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-10232763-48.html
