    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Got under her this morning to calibrate the O2 sensor. I have been seeing unusual AFR readings (higher than normal under steady state cruise), at first I thought maybe it was due to the colder temperatures we’ve been having but my gas consumption was up as well. Thinking about it yesterday I...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Everything was nicely dry this morning so proceeded with the installation. Yesterday evening I put the edging back on, along with a piece of silicone hose I split to cover the cut-out area for my tow hook. That looked like this: I ended up taking off the hose piece as there wasn’t enough room...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

So far haven’t been able to figure out the charging situation. Have to keep on it. Last week I had the chance to buy one of the Moss Miata front grilles locally so took it. When it showed up it looked like the UPS folks tried folding it up in two places. Luckily I was able to fold it flat with...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Buffed the wax first thing this morning, then dove into the interior. Cleaned everything, conditioned the leather and treated the vinyl. Finished up by treating all the exterior plastics and tires. Looks much better.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

It's kind of a Zen thing for me. Would be easier if my wife kept things cleaner when I'm gone, but I love having a clean vehicle.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Washed her, clay barred, sanded/polished headlights, rewashed with Dawn to remove old wax etc, touched up all the little paint chips I could see. Did some interior cleaning as well. Waiting on the paint to dry before applying wax, will buff it in the morning. Then just have to finish up my...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Got home from training, after recovering from driving 1100 miles in 15 hours 47 minutes I had a look today. Despite the CEL coming on every time I started her for my trip (three times if you’re counting), the CEL never lit. Battery measured 12.7 volts beforehand. Fired right up, measuring...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Well my trip came to an abrupt halt Saturday morning. I was enroute in the dark and rain when I noticed it seemed like my dash lights were dimming. Thought maybe I was imagining things, then I noticed the wipers were slowing down. Started feeling dread, I turned around and headed back home (I...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Picked up and installed my hardtop. It was buried in my storage so took a bit to unearth it, I had just gotten everything stowed again and was driving off when it started spitting rain. Unfortunately I didn’t drive through enough rain to clean the dust off the top so she’s getting a bath as some...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

I’ll be taking a trip in a few days and decided to use my hardtop, so I stopped by my storage this morning to pick up the side pieces I have cut for the side latches. Cleaned those up once home, installed them and put on the Beatrush lower latches. While I was welding on the muffler hanger, I...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Put her up in the air after some cars & coffee this morning and set about rewelding that muffler hanger. Took me a couple of tries, I wasn’t getting good penetration with the tacks I made to target the hanger so I finally said screw it, pulled the muffler off and eyeballed the location (the...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Was still having some brake pulsing so figured those sliding pin bushings were too swelled. Asked the dealer if the rear caliper sliding pins were available but you can only get them with the brackets. Looked on Rock Auto and found you can get a brake rubber kit with those pieces and the sliding...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

Gave her a bath today and was happy to note no dribbles on the inside of the windows as used to happen before my adjustments. Unfortunately I also discovered that the weld I did when relocating the fourth muffler hanger broke and the muffler was hanging low on that side. Safety wire to the...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

A few days ago I decided I needed to make sure I hadn’t left the wideband output offset when I initially installed it. I couldn’t find the connection cable so ordered another one. Once that came in I removed the gauge thinking that all I needed to power the gauge was the connection cable. WRONG...

What have you done to your Miata today?

I'm an outlier since I can only enjoy my car for six months of the year at most, but no matter when I am home if the roads are clear she's out with the top down. Gets me some looks when the temperature is in the 20's.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

No, because I have removed them before and used anti-seize on the new ones. Nothing else is required to be removed. Finally, they are aftermarket (Rock Auto) but for a Protege5. I found with the Corksport rear bar that using the stock end links meant the arms on the sway were not level so it...

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

I noticed the upper diffuser was pulling away from the bumper cover. I figured the double-sided tape I had used was just old so bought some new 3M black tape yesterday. Removed the upper diffuser, cleaned it up and installed again. No pictures because it was just the same as before. Today I...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Installed both new rear sway bar end links that I received yesterday. I'll be keeping an eye on the nuts, I was planning on double-nutting the upper ones (that was the one that fell off) but the Corksport sway tabs are too thick for that.

    NB MX-5 Hey, it's Minnie!

I decided to cut out the opening in the bumper cover to allow airflow through the mesh in the upper diffuser. Got started on that this morning. First thing was to put some tape around the opening for protection against the drill (note: this didn’t completely work but it mostly did): Next was...
