It is typical for the engine bay to look like that. Manufacturers skimp on the final clear top coat in the engine bay because, well, engine bay. I've never seen a door jam painted like that. If Mazda is really skimping on the top paint color coat in the door jams, then yuck.

The car should run just fine with a header to replace the primary cat. If you can, have the secondary O2 sensor relocated behind the second cat to keep the ECU happy.

Do you have extended lugs? Those spacers won't allow full torque on the lug nuts without extended lugs.

OMG that was the worst video ever. Those guys are typically pretty good with their comparisons, but that seems like it was put together out of haste and boredom.

I had a car back in the day that would not release the parking brake. Turned out the cables were seizing inside the cable housing. You might either need to figure out how to lubricate the cable, or replace them altogether.

I could be wrong, its been a while since I was under a Protege... but, isn't the front sway bar supposed to bend over the tie rod? Almost looks like the car was assembled wrong after the coilover installation.
