The 215/45R18's will be slightly taller. It'll work, but it's not perfect. If you get those, obviously you'll eventually have to change tires. When that time finally rolls around (get it, rolls around, lol), go to the 225/40's.

For your new tires on those 18's, you'll want to run 225/40R18's. That size will keep your speedometer accurate. Also, with those bigger wheels, next time you need brakes, get the Mazdaspeed3 front rotors and calipers! They are direct bolt ons, and the difference in stopping power is IMMENSE...
