2017+ CX-5 front and rear bumper trim

Sorry guys to to put water over the fire but: I have a 2016 and bought almost identical ones off eBay. Actually, the ones I bought were really tough plastic, pretty thick, etc. Again - no drilling, etc. required. Looked identical, also painted. Issue - after an year, yanked them off. The front...

Using this for 6 months as front parking sensors (2016 CX-5)

As many know, Aussies get the goodies like front parking sensors, whereas here in US it's not even on the menu. What's offered are the rear parking sensors at a rather hefty price which BTW - no one installs (almost) since rear camera is default. Anyways - due to a peculiar and rather...

    Ceramic Nano Coating or PPF

Alphadog - ceramic coats go on really thin and very liquid. Its actually not easy to apply. I found waxing considerably easier and more forgiving. In fact, detail shops undergo training for the real good ceramic coating OptiCoat, for example - on how to apply it.

    Ceramic Nano Coating or PPF

Nothing beats 3 to 4 times clay/polish/wax. Period. Ceramic coating are a joke for the price. I was quoted 5 year protection for $900. My detailing routing costs me $100 a pop or $300 / yearly. Do the maths - the final 2 years 4th and 5th. seems to be worth it. But did you know these coatings...

    Infotainment Hack

You can remove it but: - when Mazda releases the next firm wire it'll wipe out your hack. Then guess what? In case you want back the hack - you'll need that serial cable again. - AIO offers other stuff too - in case in future you need to upgrade/add: you'll need the cable. Here's the worst...

Off Topic Honda CRV 1.5t engine recall in China

200% correct. 1st: I would not even glance at figures showing acceleration, etc., ever. If I need to - I'd save $ and buy a Porche where such factors - matter. For me - it's a family 4-banger. Period. Into which I get at zero costs: no CVT, awesome handling, riding dynamics and throttle...

Not your typical door lock question

You have set it to "Lock all" in "Park". As soon as you enter and close the door - the gear's in park. So the vehicle thinks it needs to lock it and so it does exactly that. Ideal situation will be unlock@Park, lock@Drive. GxIbm is correct.

    Nice article CX-5 Safety

Well said. Exactly my point - the thread is NOT about the driver or what she did right/wrong. For that there's enough arm chair critics as it is - open any newspaper these days. Accidents happen - period. The CX-5 behaved well - saved her life. That's in my book - kudos to Mazda engineering.

    2017 CX-5 Phone Mount Options

For me - the best place has ALWAYS been the driver side side vent, besides the door. It's anyways always switched off (no air) and I put my phone there using a magetic clip style. Slide it right off when parked and leaving the car. Easy to grab and go, in case forgotten. The best part is the...

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

All Mazda NA really cares about is being 1st. in the brand list having most fuel efficient line-up among other brands here in US - i.e. basically with just ONE real/selling car: CX-5. Not sure but probably - combined CX-3 + Mazda 6 + Mazda 3 + CX-9 + Miata = CX-5 sales.

I'm worried about all the broken Mazdas on forums

GJ_molestor: Have you owned a Jeep or just driven one? I have extensively driven a Grand Cherokee and it drives a straight line, each time, every time. Going over a turn: fantastic for its size. Finally - interiors are superb in all aspects. Sound deafening, quality of materials everything is...

I'm worried about all the broken Mazdas on forums

Every car is different. My friend bought highest trim level Grand C, last year 2017 Jan. By Jan 2018 he already exhausted 36,000 miles. Drives as a forest ranger in Alberta, CA. Extensive bad roads, etc. Till date not even 1 single issue has surfaced. Transmission: fine, suspension: fine, ride...

    Heated Mirrors?

And also don't be surprised when they don't meet your expectations. I have them on 2016 and do not see any benefits. In my friend's Porche - these heated mirrors when turned on within 10 min., snow - gone OR rain drops - gone. In CX-5 it's as if not there. No benefits I have seen, yet - either...

How does Mazda activate brakes when SCBS / SBC kicks in?

I dont know that much about brakes except there's a master cylinder, brake oil and then via a manual pump (my brake pedal) that pushes the oil into the calipers which in turn press into the brake pads .................. In effect, with this limited knowledge: looks like a complete hydraulic...
