And California is somewhat of an outlier. I live in MA, which is usually pretty pricy, but my local Mobil is only 2.59 for regular. California is a huge market though, so you can ignore it. Even in MA, I am considering the Rav4 hybrid for my next purchase. I am interested in the plugin model...

I am pretty sure that the last post about the 2020 had only the turbo models getting the bigger screen and there was speculation the turbo was just going to get the larger screen from the cx-9, not the new Mazda 3 system.

It seems like maybe Mazda was an early warning sign. Sales are looking real bad for everyone.

It is recommended by Apple that manufactures that add CarPlay support expose satellite and speed information to the phone for this exact reason. I am not sure if Mazda did this. It is technically only required by Apple for wireless CarPlay.

I figured they would have wanted to bring alignment between the systems, since as I understand it, the mazda3 is an entirely different platform. But maybe this 8 inch version is just a stopgap until 2021.

At the end of the video, it shows a print out of the changes. I assume that came from headquarters but who knows. Interesting that they say 8 inch screen, when the new Mazda3 has a 8.8-inch widescreen display. I wonder if it will be the same?

For those wondering also, it looks like it is indeed a "2020" according to their website, but I think their 2020 might be our 2019. The manual on their site is dated November 2018.

I usually just use it only in auto mode and use the temp knob to indirectly control fan speed.

Ah, I didn't realize they rolled out https://www.siriusxm.com/navtraffic to the old system, I thought it was only for the new Mazda Connect. Mazda's website is very light on details. So it uses traffic in route planning now?

They have a new system in 2019 Mazda3, which I think even has integrated traffic. Hopefully that rolls out to the cx-5 soon!
