Anyone try Michelin Pilot Sport tires?

Probably the best tire you can buy, but I’d think maybe it’s a bit of overkill for a cx5.

CX-5 Transmission: Drain and fill vs flush vs oil pan drop drain/fill?

How do you check the trans fluid with the engine running if you have to have the air box removed to get to the dip stick? I’d think you’d get engine codes popping up with the air flow sensor unplugged.

CX-5 Transmission: Drain and fill vs flush vs oil pan drop drain/fill?

Does Mazda use synthetic transmission fluid? honda doesn’t. I just changed the fluid on my 2019 pilot at 30k using VML, much better fluid and actual made a noticeable difference

CX-5 Transmission: Drain and fill vs flush vs oil pan drop drain/fill?

Mazda does not recommend any fluid changes beyond engine oil. Honestly, I found this to be a bit odd having owned honda awd vehicles, which require fairly frequent (15-30k miles) differential, transfer case and trans changes. i have a 2019 cx5 and my son has a 2018, both with roughly 30k...

2013~2016 How to check battery health and the alternator on your CX-5

one thing I’d note is that you are only testing resting voltage of the battery with the meter. While that gives you some indication of battery health, it’s really what happens under load that matters. You could have a battery reading 12.4-6 at rest, but when you go to start it, it doesn’t start...

Advice negotiating with dealer for maintenance (2016.5 CX-5)

The parts cost is flat out price gouging. Run from that dealer. You can’t do the work yourself, which is fine, but you can buy the parts yourself and find a local mechanic that gets good reviews or maybe a friend has a suggestion. Brake pads and rotors are $200-300 tops and there is nothing...

Down to 3 tire options. Opinions Appreciated!

Try Walmart for the pirelli scorpions. I bought them on rollback last November, I think it was about $125/tire, quite a deal.

Down to 3 tire options. Opinions Appreciated!

Ive had the priellis on since November, they ride great. Excellent in rain, very quiet, great handling. Not sure what that report is citing about wet traction. I’ve driven in flooding rains on the highway at 70mph and they are very steady.

Prices for a full brake job? 2018 CX-5

if you go to rockauto, you can get front and rear pads for $40 (power stop) and four centric rotors for $100. $140 total! If you can’t diy, find a local mechanic and I bet he will charge you $400 to do the job, all in, half the dealer price. I don’t know why anyone would resurface or turn a...

Alternator output voltage 13.6V - Is that ok? 2021 CX-5

you can get something like this to monitor your voltage in real time while driving and when it’s parked if you plug it into the live 12v port in the armrest. An alternator should be putting out 13.9-14.4 generally. with car sitting off, voltage shouldn’t drop below 12.4, or it means about...

    2019 CX-5 Keyfob dying

Test the batteries with a meter, should be 3.3 or higher. If they go to 3.1, you’ll get a low bat warning.

    Guide CX-5 Battery Installation

I’m still going strong on my original 2018 and 2019 batteries. 2018 reads 12.6 after sitting a while, 2019 reads 12.45. I realize that’s not under load, but usually when a battery reads below 12.4, it’s getting time to replace it. I keep a jump starter in my cars so I’m not worried about the...

Mazda Dealership alternatives to get 50,000 Mile Checkup?

As best i can tell from the manual, there basically is no maintenance needed on this car, except oil changes, tire rotation, cabin and engine filter and spark plugs, which I think are like 100k miles. Couldn’t be simpler. Brake fluid has nothing to do with mileage, it’s ~3 years. I don’t see...

    Guide CX-5 Battery Installation

I just looked at my 2019 touring and it doesn’t look like it will be a problem, but I’m not sure. It seems that there is room to move the positive wiring harness out of the way so the battery can be slid forward and then tilted up from the back and lifted out. What am I missing.
