    Rediculous IAT temperatures....

I suppose you missed the point. These types of calibrations are present in all vehicles. I just happened to have the IAT compensation table for a 2006 STI handy.

    Oil Analysis on my Mazdaspeed3

It seems the 2008.5 does not run very rich at all. This dyno run shows the AFR for a stock vehicle and then the same vehicle with the AP. Note the AFR lines. The lower/richer line is the AP run. It seems Mazda has recalibrated the 2008.5 to utilize a lean-burn strategy. Christian said this...

    Oil Analysis on my Mazdaspeed3

By "High Performance" I meant anything that is making big-engine power on small displacement... i.e. turbocharged. I haven't owned a non-turbo car for over 12 years, but for what it's worth, it doesn't take a turbo to break down viscosity. An S2000 with 2300miles on the oil...

    Oil Analysis on my Mazdaspeed3

I don't know why he wrote that. Probably a transient ischemic attack or something. I emailed them back asking to revisit the comments section and make sure there wasn't a mixup. I looked at several of the most recent threads on BITOG regarding the 2.3L DISI where the oil grade was known to be...

    Oil Analysis on my Mazdaspeed3

Do you have any extreme-low-mileage UOA to support that it is supposed to be 30W?

    Oil Analysis on my Mazdaspeed3

There is no proof that it WAS 30 to begin with. I wasn't at the factory when they filled it with whatever was in it. In fact, I was under the impression that it is typical for new cars to be filled with a lighter weight oil for break-in.

    Oil Analysis on my Mazdaspeed3

I did my first oil change on my MS3 at exactly 3750 miles. I went to Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 with a MazdaGenuine oil filter and o-rings. Anyway, during the oil drain, I took a sample in a Blackstone Labs kit and sent it off. Got it back today: Some people had said DI and the MS3 in...

    About broken motor mount bolt...

Just hoping for anymore information regarding potential broken motormounts on the 08+ models.

Is this really a big problem?

Yeah that keeps carbon from building up in the combustion chamber and after (like in the exhaust manifold) but it does nothing for the intake tract where traditionally there was a bit of fuel to rinse off the tops of the valves, etc. The Guy who posted that though seems to think that the fuel...

    Fuel chillers?

I think the cooling effect is dramatic with DI because the fuel is so well atomized which leads to more evaporation of the fuel. The phase change from liquid to gas absorbs a lot more heat than simple temperature change in the liquid state so although it could have some effect, it would be...

How-To: Install Cobb Springs + Impressions afterwards.

Well, the reason I asked is that with most any strut suspension, when you remove/replace the strut, you end up with a slightly different camber adjustment than when you started. This is important because a different camber == altered toe. It is a fact of vehicle geometry that when camber is...

Cobb cold air box for SRI

This is just wrong. A turbo doesn't heat the air to some pre-set temperature, nor does an intercooler cool whatever it gets to exactly ambient. If you feed the turbo ambient air, it will get hot when compressed. If you feed the turbo hot air, it will get REALLY HOT when compressed. Likewise...

    Buying new - Need advise

There are a ton of kids who drove around in STI's at that age and I promise you the insurance is way higher on an STI than on an MS3 (i know from personal experience). But either way, I think you should consider something way cheaper and here's why: You're very young with a long future ahead...

    Any spring rates?

The Mazdaspeed Sport Spring Kit (for Mazdaspeed3, part no GRMS-8M-L25) advertises a 15mm drop front and rear, with 30% higher spring rates. Assuming the 30% is correct, that makes for spring rates of 244/222 versus the stock rates of 188/171. I have a request for more info in to see what the...

How-To: Install Cobb Springs + Impressions afterwards.

I take it your front camber was not affected by the unbolting of the struttop and strut housing from the control arm? I'm doing this myself and since the car has minimal adjustment for camber (and I'm actually doing the MS Sport kit which includes their links) I will have to adjust Toe in the...

How-To: Install Cobb Springs + Impressions afterwards.

It appears to me that if you don't intall camber-correcting links, you never unbolt anything that would affect the alignment of the car (excepting the inevitable camber change from a different ride height). Has anybody measured before/after the toe/thrust of their car with a spring install?

New to m247 and new to the Mazdaspeed3

Well the mirror was separate from the install kit. I got it from the dealer with my car (but not installed) at invoice price, as listed on edmunds.com which makes for a price of $160. To buy it as an accessory though the "Mirror Base" sells for $160 and the installation kit sells for $40 if...
