Uh oh, prank time! Radiator sprung a leak at the upper tank so it got replaced. Checked multiple times and was sure it wasn't one of the upper hoses leaking. Went with a full aluminum radiator I found on eBay. Brand is DH Racing. I would've given the CX Racing radiator a try but it didn't have...

Fresh Sweet Donuts Everywhere! (work log)

That’s a great possibility. I dislike calibrating the TPS. Can someone just do it for me on a spare throttle body? 😂

Fresh Sweet Donuts Everywhere! (work log)

That doesn't sound very inspiring lol. I'm kidding. The kids always come first :) Well, I've been battling a hesitation issue. Sad because the car ran flawlessly for so many years. While it's behaving BETTER than my last post, it's still happening. I smoke tested it for leaks and saw a little...

It's been a while! Toddler has been keeping me busy so I've been getting little to nothing done :p. Goal is to knock out maintenance to get the car ready for road tripping pretty soon. Up first, installed some new spark plugs using NGK (7913) SILFR6A. Noticed an A/C hose appears to be leaking...

Fresh Sweet Donuts Everywhere! (work log)

Hey! I'm still alive. Guess I should post an update since it's been forever. Since becoming a father, it's been a challenge to find time to do anything without taking time off from work. Being that young children get sick often, I've been hoarding all my off time. Did switch jobs this year too...

What have you done to your P5 today?

I've always wondered if we could find another car's strut insert to "rebuild" protege struts. surely another compact must have similar dimensions where it'll fit. Something like this How To's - Installing Koni Inserts

    Turbo with an automatic?

Yeah I was going to suggest a post Antoine already shared. https://mazdas247.com/forum/t/worlds-first-an-automatic-msp.123872292/#post-6692047

What have you done to your P5 today?

though it's prolly most likely compatible with each other, i want to say the p5 strut shaft is a bit longer for reasons i don't remember. getting old + lack of sleep = blurry memory. edit: come to think about it, it should have extra threading to accomodate mounting the seat belt onto the top...

Went on a 1500 mile road trip about a week ago. Forester did fine for the most part except for 2 things. 1. The A/C definitely struggles when experiencing 100F weather. I would notice it blowing hot air and if I turn the AC switch off for a couple minutes and back on, the AC would blow cold...

    that's good to know.

What have you done to your P5 today?

@katapaltes, referencing the photo below, normally you would think the bolt would go straight through the bushing and start catching threads, but the bushing is cocked to one side requiring you to reposition the bolt while attempting screw it in. this is where the cross threading happens so...

Kinugawa Turbo Exhaust Manifold - Anyone heard of it?

Dang, thanks. That looks amazing despite the tight clearances. Hood closes find and is that modified pope downpipe I see or is it completely custom?

Fresh Sweet Donuts Everywhere! (work log)

surprisingly, i have no photos for this update. reinstalled midpipe, repaired wire on o2 sensor, and fixed a leaky oil drain fitting. thought I had another O ring laying around for the oil drain but i didn't. i did have a gasket but upon using it found that one of the holes for the bolts to go...

What have you done to your P5 today?

I would check and make sure you're not missing exhaust manifold bolts first. that's almost a free fix lol

Fresh Sweet Donuts Everywhere! (work log)

Finally got a chance to finish installing all the shifter bushings. The last one was the one that connects to the trans. Went to remove my midpipe too and found what looks like chew marks on my rear o2 sensor wiring. Have a lot of squirrels running around our hood. I should have a spare from my...

Success! Drove the car around for a few days and it also sat a few days. The heat shield where oil would collect stays bone dry now. The task was more annoying/inconvenient than hard just based on the available space to work with. First prank of 2022 resolved.
