Has Anyone Considered the CX-9? | A Subaru Outback View

Looking to check it out when it comes to NYC in a month or so.

Has Anyone Considered the CX-9? | A Subaru Outback View

Well, in late spring/early summer there will be an Outback look alike SUV called the Ascent to compete with the CX-9. Doubt it will drive like the Mazda, but it appears to be more versatile.

Mazda tops EPA fuel-efficiency rankings for fifth year in a row

Those that sell trucks also have hybrids and plug-in hybrids to off set their respective gas guzzlers.

    2018 EPA Estimates

Keep in mind the 2014 CX-5 was on sale from January 2013-January 2014. That same time period, the 2013 RAV4 was on sale. Those resale numbers are inaccurate as the 2014 CX-5 is actually a year older. People forget mazda was a model year ahead (still dont know why) for MY 2013-2016.5.

    2019 Subaru Ascent

Usually newer designed transmissions bring issues, such as the 2012 Mazda3 and 2013 CX-5. Both known for tranny problems. No company is immune to it. What i meant by a decent CVT is Subis and Hondas dont feel like a typical CVT. Drive a Nissan then drive one of the others. Completely different.

    2019 Subaru Ascent

Nissan makes a terrible CVT. Subarus are decent. The CVT in the Legacy/Outback is pretty good. It mimics shift points to give the feel of planetary gears. Not as good as a traditional AT, but better than many CVTs on the market. Hondas are pretty good too.

    2019 Subaru Ascent

The Atlas design is aweful. Looks even worse in person. Youre right. It looks like they didnt even try. I think the Ascent is rather decent on the exterior. It looks like a Highlander and Outback has a baby. The refreshed Outback/Legacy design is quite nice in person and looks better than the...

    2019 Subaru Ascent

Agreed. The CX-9 is more like a work of art than anything else. Again, I own one and Im very happy with it. From the looks of it, ther interior design of the Ascent does look on the lower end of this class. Cant speak for build quality and materials yet, but its not luxurious. Thats for sure.

    2019 Subaru Ascent

I'm very happy with my CX-9 as well, but looking at what Subaru did, its clear this is more family friendly than anything Mazda has. 8 USB ports, WiFi, seating for 7 or 8 (captains chairs an option), 19 cup/bottle holders, standard EyeSight, standard AWD, one giant moon roof, Apple CarPlay and...

    2019 Subaru Ascent

Subaru finally got serious about a family hauler. They benchmarked the CX-9 for driving dynamics, and Motor Trend thinks it didnt fall short.... Who said 19 cup holders and a 54 sun roof cant be fun? http://www.motortrend.com/cars/subaru/ascent/2019/2019-subaru-ascent-prototype-first-drive-review/

    The Mazda CX-9 sales mystery

Do you know how SEO/SEM works? Adds of Facebook, Twitter and other sites are sold by search engines like Google. It matches your web searches and places adds from those companies on websites you visit that have sold advertised space. By you visiting Mazdas247, you will see Mazda ads on pages...

    The Mazda CX-9 sales mystery

Another reason why the sales numbers are lower....no fleet sales like in years past. Mazda used to dump thousands of CX-9s into rental service, mostly Sport or base Touring models. Those numbers padded their overall sales numbers and hurt resale value.

How Hard Would It Be For Mazda To Do This?

Not only is it a legal issue for direct sales to customers, you would have 700+ dealer franchise owners to be bought out costing Mazda BILLIONS to do so. Then there is the assumption you made that the cars would cost less. Wrong. Mazda would then have to employ tens of thousands of people...

Dealer mark up on parts when servicing your vehicle with them.

A fair percentage is in the eye of the beholder. What a dealer thinks is fair and what you think are fair will be different. Your local liquor store marks their product up, and they get it from distributors who are middle men from the production facility. I bet you dont question your local...

New '17 CX-9 GT owner here...which accessories do you guys have?

Black out the chrome? Get outta here. The chrome makes the CX-9 pop. One of the reasons the GT abd Sig Look way better than Sport and Touring.

    What Service After The Sale?

My dealer has been wonderful. Owned 3 Mazdas, all serviced and purchased the same dealer. Nothing but praise to go around. Honestly, from a few posts you have made, you keep bringing up that you paid cash, or are offended that the dealer has to verify your identity via your social security...

    Where Is Mazda Headed Next?

You cannot tell if they are ditching the Kodo front end at all from these photos. If anything, look for the new Mazda3 concept to share the nose of the 2017 CX-5. Its an evolutionary progression of the original Kodo design. Mazda stated this long ago as their new designs will be an evolutionary...

    2017 CX 9 Customer Reviews

Would expect something similar to the CX-9. Rumor has it as a 2.4L turbo. Most likely more space tho. The Ascent was spotted testing with a CX-9 and EcoBoost Explorer (4-cyl).

Has anyone qualified for 0% financing for 60/mo?

All you need is a 680 FICO I believe. Maybe 700. Weigh taking 0% vs any cash offers. See what your exposure is over the term. You will see whats better. Usually Mazda offers an either-or. Take the 0% or the cash rebate.

    2017 CX 9 Customer Reviews

I second that notion. I wouldnt touch an out of warranty BMW with a ten ft poll. I guess that depends on how much money you have to waste on your daily driver. Theres a reason X5s depreciate at an alarming rate. Worth pennies on the dollar after just a few years.
