    Springs

Sure, great tool. My problem with that: it's one thing if you have a garage and many cars to work on, but for general public all those tools quickly accumulate, and there're so many of them. My wife already wants me out of the house, and I don't even have that many!

    Springs

Oh, come on! Real men do everything by hands! (jerkit) I know people who did quite a bit more with just hand tools. This job is not even that big. What is it -- six nuts per front, not counting lug nuts and spring compressors, even less for the rear? You sure need a whole day for this...

    Springs

The how-to guide is not in Mazda2 sub-forum -- somewhere else, but I forgot (Mazda6?) It's not directly applicable -- while the front suspensions are more or less the same MacPherson, the rear is different. Although I suspect replacing the rear springs on 2 might be even easier.

Thinking about getting Mazda 2, but ...

The build quality will certainly go the same way: south. But in general -- yes, it's a small car, budget car. Set your expectations correctly, test one and decide. I don't know about Fit (never tested one -- those Honda sales people are so arrogant!), but Mini is kind of different league, IMHO...

    Oil Choices

Well, the service managers aren't always the brightest people on the block. And car enthusiasts who care about the type of oil -- you know, they're PITA for those service advisers -- it could be that the service advisers would rather drive you away from the dealership then bow to all of your...

Splaish Guard (Seems too good to be true)

Don't know. I put splash guards on my Maxima myself in 1999 (the same type as M2). Only recently (in January) donated it -- no rust there. Front right fender rusted where it was scraped by somebody when parking (and I was too lazy to prime/paint it). But near splash guards -- no problems. I'd...

    Oil Choices

Sure it can. The first number is about low temperature viscosity. The lower -- the more fluid the oil is when the engine is cold (e.g. when you start it in the morning). Less viscosity when cold - better flow and better protection at start. As most of the wear happens when engine is started...

    How To: Retrofit your Mazda2

I haven't done it, but I'd venture to guess it's metric. 10 mm ? (based on 5/16 too small and 7/16 too tight).

Filling up and accurate calculations for gas mileage.

SubCompactor, does it really matter that much? I mean, it does matter if you just calculate gas mileage over a single fill-up, but if you use something like Fuelly, it all averages out over time, even if you fill it up to somewhat different levels each time.

    A/T Shift knobs?

I'd shift into 2 for AutoX. As for the tread - it's here: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123797249-Shift-Knob However, it looks like the vendor really was selling his shift knobs for M2 A/T without ever looking at one...

    Adjustable Mazda 2 Struts/Shocks

Good. Typical moderate lowering 1"-1.5"? Certainly worth considering -- I'd hate to mix'n'match myself (springs, shocks, custom wheels, making sure it all fits...)

    Adjustable Mazda 2 Struts/Shocks

Manufactured by whom/where? What kind of warranty? I might be interested, but likewise, not right away -- I'm fine with stocks so far. If/when I decide to lower her, then definitely.

    foglight bulbs

As Racebrewer said, it's different depending on the state. Some states are very lenient, some - not so much. I remember buying an out-of-state car and having to remove window tint (it was completely OK in Virginia, but not in New Jersey). Funnily, it became less strict in NJ in recent years. I...

    Favorite color

I like silver, I like white, I like black... However, when I drive and take stock of car colors around me, how does it come out? Right, it's "silver, silver, black, white, silver, black, silver, black, silver...". Silver is probably the most common and inconspicuous, closely followed by black...

    Would you buy a MAZDASPEED2?

Something's gotta give... It just can't be that two cars -- one smaller, one larger -- would have the exact same everything: performance, gas mileage, price, everything except one is smaller than the other. But otherwise I agree -- if there was 2 with the same price as 3, approx. same power and...

    Anyone else getting laughed at?

Not laughed at -- no, but disrespected -- quite often. As in: "I must overtake this toy car, because I'm in a big shiny (and lame) SUV and I don't like to be behind a nuclear-green midget!" Or: "That's probably some girly girl driving, so I'm being a manly man (with big beer belly) have to pass...
