    CX-5 head on pole crash

Yup. There's a member here who posted pics of his mangled CX-5 wreckage he was able to walk away from, and he went right out and bought another.

    CX-5 head on pole crash

Good question. I have no idea how that specific technology works or how it's implemented in the CX-5. Radar sees a plane because some waves bounce back from it and all the rest continue on by, so "an object" is interpreted. I don't know what such radar might interpret 100% bounce-back as...

    CX-5 head on pole crash

I can sort of understand the radar or camera sensing "an object," such as a car. With a wall, there's nothing to differentiate...it's an unbroken mass. It's interesting that it needs to "see" something in the first place in order to initiate the response sequence.

    CX-5 head on pole crash

From my 2019 Owners Manual: I can see them disclaiming things like bikes and critters, but that wall reference surprised me.

What did you pay for your CX-5?

@Corbin628: Enjoy the new car, man. That's a nice trade up for you.

It looks like some of us don't have file sharing accounts, so that would help. And you might consider killing the *.zip option...there's a possibility of uploading malicious stuff (which is why spreadhseets and documents are excluded.) Others can chime in if this is in error.

I just played with Attach Files. As you discovered, MP3s cannot be uploaded. Neither can video files. As an FYI, here's what you can Attach based on current settings: zip txt pdf png jpg jpeg jpe gif

The other thing you can do is create an account on a 3rd party file sharing site, upload your files there, then post the link to those files in your comment. Lots of these are free. I know PhotoBucket will store your files for free but you have to pay if you want to link them to another site...

As you said, another can of worms... I was gonna point out the role that CAFE Standards had in the development of CDI engines. But I'm not so certain about blaming corporate profits on this one. I recall when turning 100,000 was a rarity...now it's the minimum expectation. Corporate greed...

You're right on the relative Costs of Carrying. The only thing that takes the edge off it is the cost of cash these days...it's so daggone low. Another pressure that was not discussed in the article is the likely increase in car loan defaults. It has a double-hit because declining used car...

    Signatures in short supply?

"Constrained turbo availability" has been the subject of discussion since the beginning of the 2020 MY. I forget where I heard that Mazda was allocating Reserves and Signatures based upon 2019 sales...it may have been the sales guy at my dealer, FWIW. I do recall him telling me that they sell...

You got that right. Honda has extended the warranty to 6 Years/Unlimited Mileage, but only on SOME engine components: camshaft, rocker-arm assemblies, and spark plugs. As I read that Consumer Reports article I linked above, I'm now reminded that Honda offered a software update...at first to 5...

As I was car shopping, I looked to see if oil dilution was an issue with Mazdas, since the underlying cause is CDI technology. Mazda has a TSB on the risk of oil dilution in all SKYACTIV-G engines, It gives a detailed explanation as to what causes it. If a Mazda experiences oil dilution, the...

I read a similar article a couple of days ago when researching this issue, but the price drops were for used vehicles due to a glut. I could not find anything regarding new.

What did you pay for your CX-5?

I'm thinking that no dealer is going to deep discount their way out of this because today's floor is tomorrow's ceiling; in other words, if they take 15% off today, that will be the forever minimum expectation. It's also been my impresson that Mazda does not set a falsely high price so as to...

Next time I'm in for service I'll ask. I wondered the same thing. It might be funded from corporate, but we're their only source of cash regardless of who in the chain pays for it. The bottom line is they still gotta be compete with other manufacturers. My dealership (like others) sells...

    CX-30 NAV?

I was considering this as well. My impression is that your car is registered with the card. I don't know that a new card comes with a fresh Free Update period. I've yet to register or update mine due my rural internet speeds, so haven't been through the Toolbox process. If it DOES give 3...

It was forum comments that helped me to dodge a bullet when I bought. Mazda was not on my radar screen until I read of Honda's wide-spread/manufacturer-ignored oil dilution nightmares. Before that, I was caught up in the CRV/RAV4 herd mentality when shopping for an SUV. I don't know of any...
