    07 CX-9 Leaking coolant

Hard to say how bad this really is from your pics. First - Is that Prestone coolant F22-rated? If not, get it out of there and buy some F22 from Ford, Mazda, or elsewhere. Second - Finding the source of your leak is likely to be tough. I agree with your first instinct that it's related to...

how long does water pump, belts, radiator hoses, fuel pump lasts?

I don't think these parts age differently on the CX-5 in comparison to any other vehicles. You can expect all of those items to last you 10 years/100,000 miles with proper maintenance. Rubber items used to age out faster in the past, but not so much anymore. The only item your behavior can...

    2017 CX-5 GT lurching forward

First, I think you place way too much faith in an unknown (to you) service tech to completely troubleshoot the problem. The mantra today is no code, no action. Look into how techs are paid and the recent mechanics strike here in Chi-town to see the roots of this thinking. Second, lots of...

    2017 CX-5 GT lurching forward

Disagree. If that were true you could never change a battery safely. OP, just pull the batt cable and see if things get better after a little reset. Sub-optimal shift settings in the trans will not always throw a code.

    VVT Actuator Solenoid Oil Leak

95% problem-free for 10 years. After owning multiple Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Ford, Acura, BMW vehicles, Mazda has been the close to the best for reliability/mile. My '94 Lexus, which only ever had a window switch break in 7 years, was probably marginally better but far more expensive. My...

    Trunk mounted bike rack

I have the following installed on my 2008 CX9 but check fitment on the Curt site for your vehicle. Curt Class III hitch w/2" receiver - 13575 - $121 Easy install if you've ever bolted something on a car. LOL Fits under bumper with no cutting unlike OEM. Hollywood Racks HR200 - $180 Best part...

    Trunk mounted bike rack

Bought my Curt hitch on Amazon so no NYC pricing. Bolted on in 45 min. I understand the fleet aging issue. I have come to the point where I am sick of plunking down thousands and am putting money into existing vehicles to make them what I want. I have to laugh at the idiotic thread comments...

    VVT Actuator Solenoid Oil Leak

Huh? You did see that I found and replaced the leaking seal in the original post right?

    Trunk mounted bike rack

OMG. I dread following vehicles like that on the highway. LOL No disrespect, but that setup is a hazard IMHO. Keep in mind that that top strap is flexing across a plastic spoiler - not good. Like others, I installed a bolt-on hitch (under $130 DIY) and use a hitch mounted rack that I can...

2010 Mazda CX-9 Brake Booster Failure

You can go to any Mazda dealer for your issue and see if you qualify for a warranty repair. I seem to recall the extension was for 7 years / 90k miles, so you may or may not be covered.

2007 CX-9 Easy Repair went horribly wrong

Sorry to hear about your issue. Having replaced a crappy, leaking plastic radiator in a 7-series BMW, I can empathize. The best course is to just order a new radiator and have at it once you've glanced at the service manual to see if you're up to it. Any fix is likely to fail on you at...

Update: After several more long high speed trips, no oil leaks detected. Problem solved.

    Spark plug replacement surprise

Gap size has little to do with plug lifespans unless you're way out of the gap spec and overheat or foul the plugs. Frankly, out of spec wide gaps will likely burn out your coils or throw a code before the plugs failed. I agree that there is confusion in the service manual between gaps used in...

    VVT Actuator Solenoid Oil Leak

This is an FYI for anyone pulling their valve covers to be sure to closely inspect the condition of their VVT Actuator Solenoid gaskets. After replacing my water pump and buttoning everything back up, I detected no leaks. Of course I was mainly concerned with the timing chain cover gasket that...

How long will you keep your 2012 CX-9 GT FWD

Sorry to say, but you couldn't be more wrong about the water pump. Replacing the water pump on a gen 1 CX-9 at a dealer will cost at least $1800 because they will pull the engine and is a full day's work when all said and done. The pump is located inside the timing chain cover and is a major...

How long will you keep your 2012 CX-9 GT FWD

If you only have FWD, you don't have the transfer case to worry about. You still get to worry about the water pump failing (usually 70k and up), and a variety of much less catastrophic things breaking just like any other vehicle with that mileage. Check your oil for color frequently(chocolate...
