    '18 GT - Snow Tires

You raise a good point, regarding over inflation. I had the car in for service and it*s felt a bit stiffer since then so I*ll have to check that. After calming down a bit from the crap that the tires have put me through, I believe it*s also possible the progression of snowfall may have started...

    '18 GT - Snow Tires

I completely agree that the OEM tires are awful. The Bridgestone Ecopias are NOT safe for winter driving and I'm surprised I haven't heard more about this issue. I've taken low-speed turns barely above idle and the vehicle somehow loses traction and there have been times where I've been...

Brand New 2018 CX9 Touring premium rolls back on steep hills normal?

This is normal, at least based on my own experience. My CX-9 will start to slowly roll back on my driveway (about an 8% grade if I recall correctly, so not even too steep) while I wait for the garage door to open.

    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Hopefully that will be consistent at all dealerships! I picked up a 2018 CX-9 this past spring and I would really like to have Carplay. I'd probably be able to justify paying for it, but free is always better!

New CX-9 Owner Intro and Thoughts... from a E92 M3 Owner

Agreed - BMW's current offerings aren't particularly exciting, but there are a couple exceptions in my opinion. I'm partial to the E90 just because I owned one (also had an E92 328). I do feel it was the last good 3-series though as the generation following the E9x, the F3x, just feels too soft...

New CX-9 Owner Intro and Thoughts... from a E92 M3 Owner

Welcome! Former E90 335i driver here. Id be interested in seeing the M3! Any vids so we can hear that supercharged motor and the exhaust would be neat too! I do miss the 335s performance, but the CX-9 has been a wonderful vehicle to drive (especially considering its size) and the extra...

CQ: CX-9 diagonal and offroad test --- Fail!

These tests are helpful for understanding the limitations of various AWD systems, but should ultimately have very little impact in everyday driving on public roads (if any). I think if anyone has their purchasing decision on the CX-9 swayed by tests like these, then their priorities may be a...

    Dual Horsepower/dual octane ratings?

It would be interesting to see a dyno test of the CX-9 on regular vs. premium fuel to see how the torque/horsepower curves look. While the difference between 227 and 250 horsepower may not be much on paper, the difference in area under the curve would be more telling. The difference in the shape...

    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Finally announced in the US as a feature for the 2019 CX-9 Touring trim and above: https://insidemazda.mazdausa.com/press-release/2019-mazda-cx-9-introduces-new-features-refinements/ No word on retrofits yet though.

I'm looking into getting a CX-9in San Diego. AWD vs FWD?

It'll be nice when it rains or if you happen to go somewhere with worse roads/weather, but otherwise the AWD system runs in (mostly) FWD mode until power is needed at the rear wheels (default split is 98-99% power to the front wheels, 1-2% to the rear). Considering your location, I'm assuming...

    Any word on 2019 changes?

My best guess would be between September and November. The 2018 models were at least on dealer lots by around early-mid November 2017 because there were plenty around when I first started looking at the CX-9.

I can spin the front tires on my AWD CX-9 .... is this normal for this AWD system?

The main reason why the CX-5 does not spin its tires as easily is probably because its engine makes a lot less torque than the CX-9's. The CX-9's engine is designed to provide a lot of torque at low RPMs with its peak of 310 lb-ft coming in at 2000 RPM, which comes really quickly. The CX-5's 186...

I can spin the front tires on my AWD CX-9 .... is this normal for this AWD system?

Interesting! I’m not doubting you, but I wanted to see if I could find out more and I couldn’t find anything on this. I’m curious to know more though! That aside, a couple relevant things I did find...

I can spin the front tires on my AWD CX-9 .... is this normal for this AWD system?

Normal - yes. Mazda's AWD system is like many others on the market where it is primarily FWD until the front wheels start to lose traction and then more power is routed to the back wheels. I believe I've read that the power split is by default ~98% front / ~2% rear and then redistributed as...

Thanks for the info, that helps!!

2018 CX-9 problems - towed twice to the dealer.

Aw, dang. No worries! Considering they told you though that there was a ~1.5 month production period where cars were affected though, it'd be very interesting to know what your CX-9's build date was. Looks like hanpra's was 1/18, so I wonder if yours was right around then too? I was hoping to...

2018 CX-9 problems - towed twice to the dealer.

Dang, that's not good. I have about ~1000 miles on my lease and seeing a second report of this in this thread with a 2018 vehicle has me worried. I drive on the highway a lot commuting to/from work and the thought of losing power unexpectedly and thus putting me in a dangerous situation is very...

    2019 CX-5 getting 2.5 Turbo engine??

Man, if Mazda puts the 2.5T in the CX-5 without giving the CX-9 a bump in power, then I'd consider the CX-5 Turbo at the end of my CX-9 lease as long as it turns out I don't need the extra space in the CX-9 as much as I thought I would. That said, I just got the CX-9 a couple weeks ago, so I'm...

2007~2015 How to get to the CX-9 spark plugs?

40k for spark plugs on a turbocharged direct-injected motor sounds about right. I know the VW GTI and my car require new plugs around that mileage interval, for example. Plug replacements are more important to do on a proactive basis for these kinds of motors because as the plugs wear over...

    Review: CX-9 vs. Subaru Ascent

The Ascent actually caught my attention when they first announced it and I found myself considering it vs. the CX-9. I was worried though that it wouldn't be much fun to drive, relatively speaking anyway, as a 3-row SUV. The driving experience is a big reason why I'm still aiming to get a CX-9...
