Does the cracked cylinder head/leaking coolant problem also apply to the 2022 CX-9?

Somebody already answered your question in the other thread. Mazda made a design change to the cylinder head. Read the TSB, the description of the issue and the fix are in there.

Cost to replace brake pads and rotors on 2011 CX-9

Orielly's prices vary by location. And the quality of the job is also variable. You don't have to Google very long to find pictures of botched rotor resurfacing jobs performed by the guy at the local Orielly's. You can quibble on the premium to get new rotors, and certainly, the cheapest way...

Cost to replace brake pads and rotors on 2011 CX-9

Decent Centric rotors are $40 each. OEM rotors are around $70 online. I am unable to determine who the OEM manufacturer is for the Mazda parts so I can't figure out how much of a premium Mazda is adding just for putting their name on the parts. However, if the markup is anything like what...

Cost to replace brake pads and rotors on 2011 CX-9

I think you can do a bit better than $540 for parts. I just bought rotors and pads from RockAuto: CENTRIC10512590Brake Pads CENTRIC10512580 Brake Pads CENTRIC12045079 Rotors CENTRIC12045080 Rotors $436 shipped. You can probably find a 10% off code somewhere for RockAuto, too, although it's...

Cost to replace brake pads and rotors on 2011 CX-9

It has a significant amount of Ford DNA, which may explain the arguably useless fasteners.

Cost to replace brake pads and rotors on 2011 CX-9

This is not correct. Here's an old thread about replacing rotors on the first generation CX-9: https://mazdas247.com/forum/t/rotor-replacement.123769045/ The old CX-9 has a couple Phillips head tapered bolts holding the rotors onto the hub. In theory, these are easy to remove. In reality...

    Off Topic New Vehicle Time

This is further evidence that Subaru was right to cancel the STi when a 6.5s 0-60 vehicle hangs with it. Back in the day They were mid 4 second cars with a decent launch and still sub 6 with a junk start.

    Is the 2013 CX-9 reliable?

The Mazda MZI V6 engine is the same as the Ford "Cyclone" V6. Mazda and Ford were partners at the time of the engines development and Mazda manufactured them for their own use. The design appears to have been predominantly a Ford effort. The engine itself is pretty reliable. As stated...

    Off Topic New Vehicle Time

As an STi owner, I have a few observations: 1. According to that video's summary, it was 100 degrees and the equivalent density altitude was 5300 feet. 2. It was in Nevada, where the maximum available octane is 91. 3. It was a stock STi. I wouldn't be drawing any conclusions based on that...

2009 CX-9 GT AWD Towing weight distribution hitch

All CX-9's of that vintage had a transmission cooler - all the towing package included was a larger radiator and a different ECU which probably just turned the cooling fans on more frequently. The AWD CX-9's came with the towing package as standard equipment, at least according to what I...

How to tell if the water pump ruined my engine?

Normally you don't get oil into the cooling system when the pump goes. The oil isn't under pressure behind the timing cover, it's draining down into the pan, so there's no force pushing it into the cooling system. The VVT solenoids are susceptible to damage when the oil gets contaminated, I'd...

How to tell if the water pump ruined my engine?

Is the coolant level actually low? If there is water in the crankcase it typically mixes with the oil and turns to a chocolate/coffee milkshake-like color. Does the oil smell like antifreeze? You could send an oil sample off to be tested and they can tell if there is coolant in the oil by...

    CX-9 sunroof drainage

The symptoms you describe sound more like a clogged AC condensate drain. If you turn on the AC do you see any water dripping out of the bottom of the car? There are two drains, the front one tends to clog. You can unclog it with a can of compressed air or a shop vac. Search the forum.

    2007~2015 Catalytic Converter/O2 Sensor Issues

Did the insides of the catalytic converters look ok? Not melted, broken, or otherwise damaged? Did you reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery? If none of that leads anywhere, the next thing to look at is the long term fuel trims in the ECU. You might have a bad or dirty MAF or a vacuum...

CX-9 2.5T Engine Coolant Leaking TSB

I'm speculating here, but it is probably because the engine block is too close to the side of the engine bay to get to the timing chain. You have to l get the timing chain off the camshafts to pull the head. The old V6 is wedged in so tight that the factory service manual tells you to pull...

CX-9 2.5T Engine Coolant Leaking TSB

Aluminum heads and engine blocks warp slightly in use. Any time you replace a head gasket, you have to check the head and block for warping. If either is out of spec, that surface needs to be machined ("decked") to guarantee that the gasket will properly seal. Decking an engine block is...
