Will the CX-90 PHEV be gutless?

Those videos confirm my suspicions. In normal mode, the 600ish pound heavier CX-90 will get to 60 in around 7 seconds given that the CX-60 does it in the low 6s. In EV mode, the CX-60 was clocking in at 12+ seconds. The CX-90 won't be any faster, let's just leave it at that.

Will the CX-90 PHEV be gutless?

Those are around 5500 pounds to start. But yes, it's heavy.

Will the CX-90 PHEV be gutless?

https://www.mazdausa.com/vehicles/cx-90-phev/compare-vehicle-specs-and-trims It's in the powertrain and mechanical section. 5243 pounds. The non-phev version is listed at 4709 or 4899 depending on the trim, which is considerably heavier than the current 4400ish pound curb weight.

Will the CX-90 PHEV be gutless?

It's probably a hair under 7 seconds 0-60 when the battery is charged. If the battery is dead, it's a 10+ second 0-60 car. Fortunately, it's a hybrid and charges itself under braking, so this should never occur unless you take it to the drag strip and beat the crap out of it. In pure EV mode...

    CX-90 competition

The CX-90 will be facing some improved competition: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a42893879/2024-toyota-grand-highlander-vs-cx-90-pathfinder-pilot/ Somehow Mazda managed to make the smallest interior 3 row SUV again. If the top trim Grand Highlander undercuts the CX-90 by $6k, the CX-90...

OBDII Code P0451- Evaporative Emission Control System

I was able to release the clips with a small flat blade screwdriver with the car on the ground in my driveway. It has been a long while since I did this so I don't remember the exact details but I know it didn't require any special tools.

CX-90 Trim details, Pricing and Fuel economy press release

The trim level explosion I think is a way for Mazda to gauge what people are willing to pay. Mazda created the "signature" trim to sit above GT in 2016 because the most popular trim level on the previous generation CX-9 was the GT and they realized they might be leaving money on the table. The...

CX-90 Trim details, Pricing and Fuel economy press release

Well, it doesn't say it voids your warranty so I'd assume it's acceptable. If it was a bad idea Mazda would tell you flat out not to do it. On the other hand, the higher output motor costs significantly more, so it makes zero sense to blow thousands of dollars to buy it and then try to save a...

CX-90 Trim details, Pricing and Fuel economy press release

The ECU has a knock sensor. It will try to run the engine with parameters that take advantage of 91 octane gas. When it detects knock, the ECU runs more conservative tuning. Literally every modern car does this. It's nothing to worry about.

CX-90 pricing in Canada out of hand

The current prices are a bit out of line with inflation, at least in the US, but not outrageously so. I paid 34k out the door in 2010 for a GT model, which is about $45k inflation adjusted to today's dollars. Mine doesn't have AWD, so I will bump it up to $47k. The closest model now appears...

    Latest CX-90 teaser (12/13/2022)

The outside dimensions are misleading because of the rear drive platform and long hood. From the limited information available, the interior of the new CX-9 seems to be about the size of an Acura MDX. This isn't surprising I guess as Mazda is trying to both move upmarket and sell more CX-90s...

    Latest CX-90 teaser (12/13/2022)

I hate to say it, but after watching a few videos, the interior packaging seems to be compromised by the long hood. The leg room in the second and third rows is disappointing, I think there is more room in my old school CX-9. Still, looks good enough for kids back there but that 6' guy in the...

    Latest CX-90 teaser (12/13/2022)

Embargo is lifted. Forbes article actually has some information in it instead of pure marketing speak: https://www.forbes.com/sites/samabuelsamid/2023/01/31/2024-mazda-cx-90-gets-upsized-and-electrified/ Looks like the 3rd row is more usable and there is real cargo room with the 3rd row in use.

    Latest CX-90 teaser (12/13/2022)

At this point, I can't wait for the unveiling so Mazda can stop unveiling these content free videos. A "performance" video with no specs, now a design video featuring an Instagram influencer. Tell me more about the wood grain Becki...

CX-9 2010 Engine noise (slow chattering or rattling)

I'm not suggesting being dishonest, just go to CarMax and ask for a trade in value and see what they offer. They may take it, even with the noise. They can get things fixed cheaper than you and I can. Or,they will sell it to an auction house, someone else will buy it and will then part it...

CX-9 2010 Engine noise (slow chattering or rattling)

The water pump can leak in two ways, one is annoying and the other is potentially catastrophic. You appear to have the annoying coolant leak, where coolant comes out a weep hole and drips outside the engine. If you search for "ford 3.5 v6 weep hole" you will find descriptions of this. It is a...

    Window regulator question (2013 CX-9)

The regulator and motor comes as one assembly. If the motor still runs, one or more of the plastic gears inside the assembly is probably stripped. There are videos on YouTube that show how to repair the regulator. Both my front window regulators failed after 6 years or so. I replaced them...

    Latest CX-90 teaser (12/13/2022)

If I had to hazard a guess,. the 3rd row is just wide enough to fit 3 seat belts back there. This will probably be on some of the trim levels, but not all. I think they have to do this to be competitive with other vehicles in the segment. The Kia/Hyundai twins, for example, offer 8 passenger...

This is a possibility but it's hard to imagine getting the crankcase pressurized that much at idle.

2016~2023 Help identify bolt that fell out of my CX-9!

You can look up the part number on one of the online parts stores. Some or most of them will list the superceded part numbers. There is not an obvious way (at least that I'm aware of) to determine the part revision from just the current part number.
