    2019 CX-5 Signature, Seat discomfort?

Unless you previously owned a '17 like I did there would be none to be aware of. This change was made for MY '19. I checked an '18 seat at the height of my issues with this and found it identical to mine.

    2019 CX-5 Signature, Seat discomfort?

I solved my CX-5 seat comfort issue by getting rid of my CX-5. I was advised by a doctor then a physical therapist that I was at risk of developing a permanent sciatic nerve pain issue because of what the seat side bolster was doing to me. Interestingly enough I checked out the seat of a 2019...

    2019 GT-R heads-up display distortion?

The slight distortion you are describing is normal for your particular situation (HUD adjusted down to accommodate your height). The system uses a complex series of mirrors to get the aspect correct and make it appear as though the readout is floating above the hood the way it does. The...

    Turbo: nobody home?

Well, thanks for the meme. I think I've got a pretty good idea of the nature of this particular group now, so you won't have to put up with any more of my terribly twisted logic in the future. Have fun Interneting. It's definitely your cup of tea not mine.

    Turbo: nobody home?

Let's break it down then. The pertinent data points are that 1) it seems to be a '17 and up issue so owners of Gen 1 likely won't have anything to report, 2) it requires the proper temperature conditions (very cold), and 3) the evidence thus far suggests the problem is related to ECU...

    Turbo: nobody home?

I don't mean to say it's normal. I just mean it appears to be operating as it was designed to operate. Losing half your horsepower in very cold weather is neither normal nor acceptable. If we're lucky we might be able to convince Mazda to actually open an engineering case file on the subject...

    Turbo: nobody home?

His experience exactly mimics mine. Problem begins at 20F and progressively gets worse as the temp goes lower. Once you get above 20F it goes away. So whether the engine is turbo or NA we are building a lot of supporting evidence that the problem lives in the programming of the ECU.

    Turbo: nobody home?

I don't believe there is anything wrong with my vehicle. By wrong I mean "diagnostically wrong" as in not operating as designed. I think the car *is* operating as designed, and that's why it bothers me. I could be wrong about that and acknowledge the possibility, but my gut says this is the...

    Turbo: nobody home?

You're right in that my case could be unique. I've said that myself as well. But other people with NA engines have experienced the car "going weak" when it gets very cold. It could be that I was just a little colder and experienced it more severely than they did. The problem is not an on/off...

    Turbo: nobody home?

This information is only correct in abstraction. Yes, generally speaking colder and more dense air is beneficial to a turbocharger, but there are other factors in play besides that. In fact it's pretty likely that the turbo itself is not really a contributor to the power loss issue. My...

    Turbo: nobody home?

I would gladly do a sunroof delete if I could. All they do is create sun glare on interior surfaces and make the car slightly louder inside (more glass surface to reflect sound waves). I opened and closed mine once to make sure it was properly closed/sealed and it's likely the only time it...

    2019 Signature Vibration/Shake

Many of the changes made to the car in the 2017 update were meant to up the level of refinement. These were mostly tricks though and not major changes to chassis components or design. For the most part I think they do work, but what myself and a few others are asserting is that under certain...

    2019 Signature Vibration/Shake

That's what I've been thinking. The only real isolation the steering rack gets from the road itself is isolation bushings in the front suspension and subframe. The right speed, temperature and other conditions could be producing sympathetic vibrations or resonance. Harmonics are a fascinating...

    Turbo: nobody home?

Something to consider is that there may be more than one phenomenon going on here. It's not necessarily JUST a matter of pulling timing, or JUST a matter of interference from the traction control. It may be a combination of multiple things. What I've been describing may not be applicable to...

    Turbo: nobody home?

To add a second data point, at this point I'm very confident that this behavior is ECU de-tuning (retarding ignition timing) based on the temperature of the engine oil. It is likely a necessary measure to protect the engine because of the 0-20 weight oil used to improve fuel economy. This will...

    Turbo: nobody home?

It does need to be somewhat below merely freezing to start showing up. I have found that around 10-15 degrees F is when the engine starts to weaken. Once you get into the 0 to -10 range is when it gets really dead. It has been in the range of 0 to -20 F here at night pretty much non-stop for...

    Turbo: nobody home?

It has been below zero here for weeks now and this is the way my car has been running the entire time. There are days when the engine is so dead it isn't capable of getting up to 75mph on the interstate. I'm sure that sounds like an exaggeration. Sadly, it's not. At this point I consider it...

    What new Mazda is coming?

Goofy name aside, this would be a great looking vehicle if it weren't for the hideous plastic cladding. It's odd how every review of every SUV on the market savages the use of this stuff and yet makers keep adding more and more of it with no apparent negative effect on sales. The CX-30 looks...
