2016~2023 CX-9 Strut Tower Cross Brace options?

This is part of the design calculus in car design. The strut tower brace isn't needed, but if one wants slightly better handling and stability at the expense of notable additional stiffness, go ahead.

2021 CX-9: Normal or unusual oil consumption?

These engines are tolerant of a minor overfill. A 6 quart fill, about a 1/2 quart overfill, causes no problems. Color is not a good indicator of oil quality or remaining oil life. The oil can be dark and still good for service. 5K is reasonable especially if one makes many short cool trips...

What brand of oil and filter do you use? 2017 CX-9

The second number on the viscosity grade is the hot temperature viscosity. In summer weather I'd use no less than the specified number. This testing is done at 100°C and 150°C. (The first number with the W is the winter testing viscosity done at very low minus temperatures.) (I know it's not...

Running a hot wire from the CX-9 rear

Very good wiring guide: https://www.etrailer.com/faq-Routing-a-Power-Wire.aspx You want a 40 amp circuit breaker on the car's firewall near the battery. Your wiring goes from the battery positive post through the circuit breaker and back to the +12v terminal on the 7-pin connector on the back...

2016~2023 CX-9 Oil leak on valve cover

What consumption from the turbocharger? The two I've owned (Volvo & Mazda, don't know who made the turbochargers) never consumed any. In any case, oil consumption is no reason to change the oil & filter early. Add oil if needed, then change on schedule.

2007~2015 New tires, stability of alignment (CX-9)

Probably not. Alignment stability...changes in the alignment...are a mechanical thing, not a tire thing. Alignment changes when the suspension parts wear or when you hit something and bend a part. As you describe your driving and your roads, save your money. Just buying new tires is not...

    Headlights failing on 2009 CX-9

NAPA lists the halogen high beam as 9005 (US$9) while the halogen low beam is the H11 ($18). Follow sm1ke's always excellent advice for the high intensity discharge lamps.

Anything to gain a sliver of fuel efficiency.

2016~2023 CX-9 Clunking after CorkSport (lowering springs) install by shop

Make a video of the car going over the bump and the noise sounding. Take that with you to the shop.

2014 CX-9 front blower motor only works intermittently

Or the motor switch could be failing.

CX-9 stuck at 3500-4000 RPM while going downhill with adaptive cruise control

Recall the formula to calculate power > (torque [in lbs-ft] x rpm) ÷ 5252 = horsepower. Power gets work done. Torque is just a force. Increasing the rpm reduces the torque which means less twisting force on the rotating parts doing the same work but at higher rpms. (The constant, 5252, is...

2007~2015 CX-9 Intermittent battery indicator light

A lead acid nominal 12 volt battery is 100% charged at 12.6 volts. As said above charging voltage to force power into the cells is in the high-13 to mid-14 volt range. The noted 13.5 to 13.8 volts is good. I don't know where the alternator indicator is connected, as said above, you might look...

    CX-90 wheels on a CX-9?

Can you find 21" tires in about a 30.2" O.D.? And 255 section width? (Will anything bigger diameter or wider fit the CX-9 without interference?)

    2023 CX-9 Power Liftgate Issues

Hmmm...so if the hands-free sensor was disconnected would the liftgate work correctly every time...maybe worth checking, or maybe just tape over the eye for a test. Can the sensor's aim be adjusted?

Recommendations for replacement struts (2012 CX-9)?

I suggesting replacing the rears as a set with the fronts. The rears are bound to be well worn with 130k, and the car handles better with similar dampers on all 4 corners. Get the same brand and line. The strut mounts hold the thrust bearings that carries the weight of each front corner of...

2007~2015 Stripped and epoxied bolt on CX-9 oil pan?

That is the oil drain plug, right? With a beat up hex head. Not a bolt. jp, you have options. (a) pump out the warm oil as described above. Don't add any solvent or anything unless you add more oil, then pump it all out to get as much of the solvent out as possible (basically, don't use...
