I’m saying they’re choosing not to. There’s nothing that necessitates a hard boost cut like that. Engines don’t become ticking time bombs at 19 degrees Fahrenheit. I’m sure it can be resolved, but it’ll cost time and money they don’t want to spend.

I highly doubt we’ll ever get an answer from Mazda. I think they just did a sloppy job of tuning for cold weather and didn’t have the budget to resolve it. As Burger gets further into the JB4 development for the CX-5 I think we’ll find out what the cause is, but not the reason.

Same with my ‘14. Almost non-existent heat. Dealer replaced them under warranty and there was zero improvement. My solution was to switch to Eddie Bauer insulated Guide Pro pants 4 months out of the year. Seriously, those pants were the only reason I kept that car for as long as I did.

The JB4 is great above 20 degrees. 1st gear feels about the same, but everything after that is quite noticeable. The CX-5 unit is still in its beta testing stage, so there’s slight inconsistencies in power delivery. They’re working on MAF control which will hopefully iron that out and the sub 20...

Temps dropped to 19 degrees last night and the acceleration issue in 1st and 2nd gear reappeared, even with my JB4 installed. I’ll be doing some X3 M40i shopping this weekend. I don’t think I can tolerate another winter of this.
