Sounds like he REALLY enjoyed it! I hope to enjoy it with less attention.

Right?!? The actual transaction won’t take place until the new car arrives, so I’ll be driving my freshly detailed CX-5 to pick up the new car. We’ll see if the numbers work out for a trade-in. All of the value estimators online lead me to believe I’ll be trading it in. If not, I’m prepared to...

Fortunately my annual mileage is substantially less than yours. And from the looks of it, I’ll be spending slightly less on gas as I currently put 93 in the Mazda, and the X3 gets better real world mileage than the 21 mpg I’m currently seeing in the CX-5.

Same boat. I spent waaaay too much money on cars in my 20’s: C5 Corvette, WRX’s, and 350Z to name a few. It’s been all Mazda since ‘07 though, CX-7 and two CX-5’s. While I’d like to wait for Mazda’s new products, especially their inline-6, I was tired of compromising and I wanted that BMW turbo...

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

I’m saying they’re choosing not to. There’s nothing that necessitates a hard boost cut like that. Engines don’t become ticking time bombs at 19 degrees Fahrenheit. I’m sure it can be resolved, but it’ll cost time and money they don’t want to spend.

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

I highly doubt we’ll ever get an answer from Mazda. I think they just did a sloppy job of tuning for cold weather and didn’t have the budget to resolve it. As Burger gets further into the JB4 development for the CX-5 I think we’ll find out what the cause is, but not the reason.

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

There’s no justifiable “safety” reason for power to drop THAT much. I attribute it to cost constraints. Being familiar with budgets, I can see them dealing with a hard cap on R&D/tuning for the 2.5T in the CX-5 application. Especially when you consider the other 2.5T applications don’t...

Doesn’t look like I have visibility on that.

North/South, tomayto/tomahto 😁. Yeah, it’s definitely in a separate class, even from the base X3. If anything, my Signature with JB4 was the gateway vehicle to me wanting more performance. Hopefully this thing scratches the itch, otherwise I’m in serious trouble.

That’s funny, I was shopping the SQ5 and M40i before I bought my Signature, and ended up choosing the Mazda for it’s anonymity and value. Also, politics at work have changed and I’m no longer concerned about the perception of driving a nicer car to work. I decided on the BMW as I’ve always liked...

The new car will take 4-5 weeks to arrive. All X3’s are made in North Carolina, and BMW handles most of their own chip production. Here are some details: -Color: Dark Graphite Metallic exterior / Tacora Red interior with Carbon Fiber trim. -Premium Package, Parking Assistance, and Remote start...

I’ve decided to replace my ‘20 CX-5 Signature with a ‘22 BMW X3 M40i. I’m still of the opinion the CX-5 is the best value in its class, but I want something more enjoyable to drive. The CX-5 excels at general transportation and normal driving up to 5/10’s. It’s when I push it beyond that it...

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

Just to clarify, it is in ALL scenarios and ALL vehicle settings/configurations while accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear when it’s below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. The JB4 tuner does not resolve it in its current state of development. I haven’t had the opportunity to log it yet but it feels slower...

2015 CX-5 Weak Seat Heater Issue

Same with my ‘14. Almost non-existent heat. Dealer replaced them under warranty and there was zero improvement. My solution was to switch to Eddie Bauer insulated Guide Pro pants 4 months out of the year. Seriously, those pants were the only reason I kept that car for as long as I did.

If it were that simple this would’ve been solved 2 years and 28 pages ago.

They’re estimating 4-5 weeks. All X3’s are made in North Carolina and BMW produces the majority of their own chips. I’ll start a thread in the Lounge after the holidays when work slows down and the delivery draws near.

Today I finally solved the issue I was having with cold weather acceleration………….. I ordered a ‘22 BMW X3 M40i.

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

The JB4 is great above 20 degrees. 1st gear feels about the same, but everything after that is quite noticeable. The CX-5 unit is still in its beta testing stage, so there’s slight inconsistencies in power delivery. They’re working on MAF control which will hopefully iron that out and the sub 20...

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

Temps dropped to 19 degrees last night and the acceleration issue in 1st and 2nd gear reappeared, even with my JB4 installed. I’ll be doing some X3 M40i shopping this weekend. I don’t think I can tolerate another winter of this.
