Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

No promises on a comparison. I’m removing the JB4 before I take it in, and my new car is only a few weeks away. We’ll see though.

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

I’m scheduled for Thursday, and temps range from -3 to 13 that day. I’ll know immediately if it worked.

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

Update: On 12/17/21 Mazda released TSB 01-016/21 which sounds like it addresses the cold weather performance issue. I’m scheduled for the ECU update this Thursday at 1pm. I’ll let you know how it goes. I learned of the TSB on the JB4 forum where another member has a Mazda tech connection. I...

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

Sorry if I sounded pissed. Annoyed and disappointed is a more accurate description of how I feel about it. My weather awareness routine consists of checking for surface conditions and whether or not it’s below freezing. Adding a second temperature threshold is a bit of a distraction to me...

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

This is a thread about cold weather performance issues, not whether or not someone should floor their accelerator when it’s cold out. Cold weather does not automatically equal slippery or unsafe conditions. This is about consistent, repeatable, anticipated performance from one’s vehicle...

The issue being discussed is only experienced in 1st and 2nd gear when flooring the accelerator.

Burger believes an ”IAT spoof” will be the solution. I’m waiting on a reply as to when that can be achieved: https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67331

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

Here’s a comparison of two logs, one below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and one above: 17 degrees Fahrenheit: 32 degrees Fahrenheit: -Red line shows gas pedal position -Orange line shows throttle body position -Blue line shows actual boost -White line is the ECU’s perceived boost (I was running...

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

Sm1ke reported a slight dip in performance in his CX-9, but not nearly as pronounced as the CX-5. I haven’t heard any complaints from the rest of the line-up, including the 3’s.

Freezing rain all day today. I’ll give it a try next week when it warms up.

Negative, it’s for the purpose of spooling the turbo sooner to eliminate lag.

Winter is here and my CX-5 Turbo is now a 2.0L!

I didn’t see anything that indicated actual throttle body position. I’ll do some more poking around. Although, there’s plenty of intake noise on full throttle in 1st and 2nd when this occurs. It’s louder but less bass’ey, almost hollow, if that makes sense. To me that would indicate the throttle...

-Red line shows the throttle input -Blue line shows actual boost -White line is the ECU’s perceived boost (I was running Map 1, +3psi over stock) -Green line shows RPM, which also indicates gear. -Orange is MPH (I ran it to 80mph) -Left axis=PSI -Right axis=RPM -Bottom=Milliseconds Yeah...

It finally dropped below 20 again and I was able to record a couple logs and send them to Burger. Here’s a link to the thread: https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67331
