Get these: Auto Trim Removal Tool Kit and Double side tape . Once you remove the trim, clean it and then apply the tape on the edges of the trim, both sides. You should be able to see where the tape is supposed to be applied. Most likely the trim is missing the tape or it's damaged.

Well, I get that. The water from the garden hose wasn’t cold, not enough to mess with the engine. And you’d have to pour a lot of cold water on that engine to mess it up, to crack the engine or something. With low pressure, most of the water was evaporating rather quick.
