What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Lol, I didn't have the foresight to order it ahead of time, and shipping up to Canada would have been too expensive anyway. Oh well!

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Also, a note - the turbo intake pipe (hard plastic piece connected to the "ribbed" OEM intake pipe) was not securely clamped to the turbo housing. After removing the two screws, I just pulled the pipe towards the fender and it popped right off. Just something for others to be aware of. I...

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Currently working through an overheating issue. Here's the original post from my "build" thread: https://mazdas247.com/forum/t/mikes-2018-cx-9-signature.123866784/page-14#post-6825028 Essentially I'm planning to replace the thermostat and engine coolant temperature sensor (though I may just...

*Unpopular Opinion* I just got greased at the dealer and I don't care

Mechanics can be just as greasy as dealerships, and dealers can be reputable and trusted. One thing is certain though, only the dealership is authorized to perform manufacturer-issued recall work and warranty work. If you take your vehicle to an independent shop for recall/warranty work, you'll...

    Should I lower it?

In my case, yes it was primarily for looks. The slight improvement to handling was just a bonus. I've had coilovers on my two previous cars, a 1999 Honda Accord and a 2008 Lexus IS250. I did coilovers on both of those cars, and both sets of coilovers offered a max drop of 4" from the stock...

    Should I lower it?

I have CorkSport lowering springs on OEM dampers on my CX-9. They would have been perfectly fine if I didn't have to deal with all the potholes and road imperfections. After 2-3 years of hitting potholes a few times a year, I had to replace both front shocks, but the rears are still good.

2016~2023 CX-9 Engine coolant temperature sensor

Thanks Shawnee, this will definitely help! I'm hoping to tackle this tomorrrow/Thursday in my driveway lol. For anyone in the know, the dealer told me that I should only need 2 jugs of coolant (7.56L total) for this job. The coolant capacity listed in the owner's manual is 9.8 or 9.9L. I'm...

    2016~2023 CX-9 Common Repairs Thread

Is that the one at the top of the engine (passenger side, near the firewall, under the engine cover)? I have a small leak there as well, very minor.

    2016~2023 CX-9 Common Repairs Thread

2018 CX-9: Rear diff replacement at about 110k kms (~68k mi) Front passenger side LCA and both front struts replaced at around 120k kms (~74.5k mi) - this was due to hitting potholes with 285/35/22 tires while being lowered on CorkSport springs. Upcoming thermostat and ECT replacement at about...

2016~2023 CX-9 Engine coolant temperature sensor

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. I had a feeling it might have been there - it was the only place I couldn't see that would still be near the thermostat. The special socket looks like its just a 12 point socket, but maybe the teeth are a bit different. I'll check later to see if I...

2016~2023 CX-9 Engine coolant temperature sensor

Thanks @youri. That's the location of the thermostat, which it seems I'll need to replace anyway. I'm thinking I'll need to remove the battery, intake piping, and battery tray to see the sensor, which sucks. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Maybe I'll just replace the thermostat.. today I drove the...

2016~2023 CX-9 Engine coolant temperature sensor

Hey guys, hoping to get some help from the community on this one. I can't seem to find the location of the coolant temperature sensor on the engine. Everything I could find on the Internet shows the location of the sensor on the previous gen, or the location of the sensor on a 2.5 non-turbo...

    Mike's 2018 CX-9 Signature

Tested yesterday with a multimeter. Reads 0.09v. I think I did it right lol. According to what I've read, if it's below 0.40v then the coolant is still good.

    Mike's 2018 CX-9 Signature

You know I didn't even think to test it, but I'll do it later today. I decided to leave the car at home until I can sort this out to avoid making the problem worse. Nope, I've never done a coolant flush. But I did top it up a few years ago when it looked low. For now I'll try swapping out the...
