The higher initial costs for a superior drivetrain setup are WELL worth the costs overall. A FWD only SUV is a undesirable model for much of the country and caters to a smaller market share. Also I fail to see where the OP asked about any possible advantages of the FWD only model as the OP owns...

e FWD also enjoys WORSE resale, WORSE poor weather driving in rain/snow and is LESS capable off a paved road. My AWD 2019GT averages over 31 mpg per tank since aquiring it in January. The added capabilities of the AWD are well worth the tiny performance loss.

If they polled potential buyers Mazda would have seen no interest in the car. It was a way to move a bunch of engines they had in stockpile. Also should have been priced identical to a NA GT/with PP.....not 10k more.

That is an excellent price. FWD hurts the CX5 on resale but for those who don't need AWD.....it's an excellent value.
