    Custom iPhone mount and charger

ugh dangit why are there so many choices for 17+ and almost nothing for 12-16?

    Custom iPhone mount and charger

I would just rather it be between the vents, also so that the driver still has full air flow. I don't like A-pillar mounts because of the distance a cable would have to run to keep the phone charging. And I don't care for mounts way down low as it's too far to look away from the road. I was...

    Custom iPhone mount and charger

does anyone know if this actually fits between the air vents in the 12-16 CX5? I was going to get the ProClip mount base, but it shows it halfway blocking the driver side air vent, and they say in the install instructions that it's made to fit only in that location. I'm guessing there are some...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

infrared LED, what is that for?

    Ouchie!

I would also add that if insurance won't spring for new OEM parts, I would try to negotiate and get used OEM parts if possible. Since technically the damaged parts were "used" OEM to begin with, not brand new. At least that way the parts should still fit well, assuming they're in good shape...

    SkyActiv Oil Analysis Thread

huh? Owners manual states 4.8 US quarts for oil change with filter on the 2.5L. That's what I've always done. The oil change kits that I've bought online from Priority and other places always include 5 quarts of Mazda Moly oil along with the filter, and I leave about 6 fl ounces in the last...

    SkyActiv Oil Analysis Thread

Been using OEM Mazda Moly oil since we bought the car in 2016. I've been changing my own oil for over 20 years and I've never put oil in the filter before installing it. I always use the "oil change with filter" specified oil amount for all my cars, which of course makes it appear just a tiny...

    Ouchie!

ughh dang man, should have specified OEM parts only, up front. I think I would even take a used OEM bumper over a new aftermarket, if the used one was in decent shape, just because they're better quality to begin with.

    SkyActiv Oil Analysis Thread

I do 7K to 8K intervals on the CX5, but I had to add a quart in between, last time. My Miata and Integra get annual oil changes due to their low miles driven. Less than 3K miles a year on the Integra.

my cars lose too much oil to go 10K miles between oil changes. 😂

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

lol in the Miata world that's known as "doing the thing". I refuse to do it in any car, Miata or otherwise because it looks ridiculous.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

ah yes, I run Shell 93 premium in my Integra and Miata. I tried an experiement on our CX5 to see if there was any fuel economy benefit to running 93 octane due to the Skyactiv's higher compression. Didn't really see a difference so I went back to Shell 87.

225/55R19 Tire Comparison Table for CX-5 GT - Many to Choose From

newsflash, some people like to go for a sportier tire option that regular old mediocre all season tires. Everyone knows that Mazda CUV's tend to handle better than the typical offering from other makes. Maybe @sherp wishes to enjoy some benefits of that handling with some higher performance...

2013~2016 Thinking of doing the driver side mirror TSB repair

nope, haven't done anything with it yet. Lucky for me my wife never moves the mirrors when she drives the car. But it's still super annoying at highway speeds. I have 2 other cars that need parts and attention, so this has been low on my priority list.

    Skyactiv Transmission Fluid Analysis Thread

I already had a sample tested of the fluid drained, when I was doing that filter service linked above, the results of which are posted earlier in this thread.

    Skyactiv Transmission Fluid Analysis Thread

This post from my fluid and filter change job shows the underside of the trans without the pan. Looks pretty clean in there to me, although the filter blocks part of it from view. https://mazdas247.com/forum/t/2014-cx5-tune-up-items-to-replace.123874505/post-6717462

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

for me it's not worth the hassle of getting a tire patched, and for my Miata and Integra, which no one else works on but me, it's even more of a hassle to swap wheels back and forth. Also, that one tire that was punctured close to the edge of the tire, which I plugged multiple times, and then...

Post Pictures of Your CX-5 Mods, Upgrades and Accessories!

nice, what's the hit on fuel economy like with that rooftop box? I've been thinking about changing our 2014 front grille out for the 15-16 version. Seems like it would be much easier to clean.

    Skyactiv Transmission Fluid Analysis Thread

I would plan on changing it ASAP. I did mine at 113K (see above), and with as dark as the fluid was that came out, I wish I would have done it around 60K-70K or so. The so-called "lifetime" fluid really is a load of BS in my opinion, if you plan on keeping the car a long time.
