I can spin the front tires on my AWD CX-9 .... is this normal for this AWD system?

Again, I agree with the highlighted portion, it's happened to me as well. But next time you're in the same situation try applying the brake with your left foot and gas with your right, once the rpms come up a bit release the brake to lauch. In my experience this somehow forces the torque split...

The price is still about $230 when you buy both items together (from crutchfield).

I can spin the front tires on my AWD CX-9 .... is this normal for this AWD system?

Since we seem to have lost a few posts with the "technical difficulties", just thought I'd add back this link to the AWD "off road mode" for posterity. https://insidemazda.mazdausa.com/the-mazda-way/technology/whats-the-diff-2017-mazda-cx-5-unlocks-secret-off-road-mode/ Relevant text: While...

    '18 CX-9 and Fortin Remote Car Starter...Success!

Whew, it was 120 degrees here yesterday! This thing has come in so handy...triple click, give the car 5 minutes, then get into a cool car. The major flaw I found...now my wife wants one installed in her CX-5. (boom02)

    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to be available as retrofit this fall Looks like someone on the Mazda3 site already found the part numbers and ordered /installed both the AA/CP harness and the Aux unit in a new Miata. The reported cost (including shipping) was $163, and about an hour to install...

Thanks, although I haven't tried for distance yet, it easily worked from the middle of my house. I'd say 50' horizontally and one story up from the car.

Well, to close this out for me, it's now working. (rockon) Crutchfield tech was of little help (which I guess can be expected considering the range of products they support) so I went straight to Fortin. Their technical support got me going in about 10 minutes. I think maybe I'll call...

'18 CX-9 and Fortin Remote Car Starter.... Success! Well, I received the parts today! I have to say the instructions are pretty bad...maybe not the worst I've seen, but pretty darn close. (rolleyes) The harness plugged in fine. The EVO ONE would not connect out of the box, it needed...

I can spin the front tires on my AWD CX-9 .... is this normal for this AWD system?

This wouldn't be a smart move on Mazda's part. Charge someone extra for AWD, then design it so that it doesn't work intentionally? They'd get their pants sued off...class action anyone? Sounds like there are a few inherant limitations based on the hardware, that Mazda (and others) have tried to...

I can spin the front tires on my AWD CX-9 .... is this normal for this AWD system?

I agree. At least in dry conditions I’ve noticed the car will launch harder with no/little wheel spin if I hold the brake while bringing up the RPMs. Also, I agree that the TC is part of the issue. I’ve gone off road and on steep climbs the car refused to move when the wheels started to spin. I...

I'm not sure I'd do both, I suppose I'll see how well the first installation goes then maybe I'll do the second later if it seems worthwhile?

What have you done to your CX-9 today?

Thanks, I ended up getting the skybox 16, it's plenty big enough for my needs. Yep, I was worried about the bolts loosening up over time. I had the box installed for a while and just took it off to wash the car. I'll re-torque the bolts before re-installing the box. (naughty) would be...

    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

I'm not sure really, everything needs to feel reasonable to me. If the hard costs are too high, I might pass and if the labor costs are too high, I might do like MPCX and just buy the components and install them myself. I'm comfortable flashing the firmware, so I'm sure I could do it in an...

    Any word on 2019 changes?

I wonder if that would be handled with one of the "firmware" updates for the connect, or something else? If just a firmware update, those are somewhat simple to do. Personally I'd love to see folding mirrors. I've had them on a few rentals, and they're very helpful in tight parking spaces or...

I can spin the front tires on my AWD CX-9 .... is this normal for this AWD system?

I agree, they do make it sound like the system is all conquering...but IMHO there's alot of marketing hype in that statement. I'm sure the fundamentals are true, but the reality of it is that the system will take some time to "catch up" to what the sensors are seeing and adjust.
