Help Me Decide: CX-5 vs. CR-V

It's sort of a price/resale problem. If you put $30K into both cars the CRV will be worth about 10% more in 5 years. But, $30K in both cars doesn't produce an equal product. The CR-V will cost a bit more, probably, but it's really dependent on what you value in the car to get there. A EX vs...

Help Me Decide: CX-5 vs. CR-V

That Motor Trend Review was pretty much spot on. About the only thing I significantly disagreed with is the seating. I thought it was more comfortable in the CX-5 but I might be more used to it. I had this experience as well. On bad pavement the CR-V was as bad as my CX-5 while the 2017...

Why are 2017 Cx-5 selling so close to msrp?

The hardest part of that was probably finding the i-activesense package on a touring. I think there may not even be 5 of those within 100 miles of me, and 4 of those are in downtown San Francisco, in your choice of blue or black. Great price though.

2017 CX5 better "overall machine" than previous generation

We're kind of debating 4-things: * Frumpy Mom's car (pre 2017 CR-V) * Much improved 2017 CR-V, because, well, 2016. * Nimble but noisy as **** pre 2017 CX-5 * Much improved 2017 CX-5 in the ways that matter to me Now, that's my perspective. I'm a single guy, with one car. The crossover...

2017 CX5 better "overall machine" than previous generation

Comments below, but how is the center console. It's larger in the 2017 and I didn't notice it while driving but did while I was sitting in it. It's one of my concerns for a long drive. If you drive the 2015 around the city, sit at a stop light, it's almost hybrid like at times. Get it on...

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

Diesel is less than regular in these parts (California). Harder to find though.

    2017 GT Test Drive Impressions

Deleted post, Kaps nailed it, exactly. As far as bikes go, I just toss it in the back. A, single, road bike would fit and apparently the 2017 seats will fold all the way down and not wedge them into your lower back.

    2017 GT Test Drive Impressions

Funny, I drove an Accord Hybrid this weekend. It convinced me to take a second look at my needs. It wasn't even that quiet but it was a much more composed ride on the freeway, and faster, than my CX-5. When I got back in the CX-5 I was stunned by how different it was. On the other hands...

Any advantage of getting AWD over FWD in a city like Atlanta?

Enlighten me then. Point me to something convincing on the topic. Find me a professional tome not written by a random poster or car manufacturer trying to sell it.

Any advantage of getting AWD over FWD in a city like Atlanta?

I'll move on. You guys win, I'll toss $1.300 out of my wallet because you said so, the next time I back out of the driveway in either snow or ice.

Any advantage of getting AWD over FWD in a city like Atlanta?

No need. I can't, seriously, think of a single time it would have made a difference in my life. Sure, every once in awhile I've slipped at the bottom of a gravel road, in a RWD, but it's not like I wound up walking where the car wouldn't go. My worst nemesis is actually crosswalk paint in the...

Any advantage of getting AWD over FWD in a city like Atlanta?

My guess based on some quick research a couple of weeks back is the AWD holds about 50% of it's value after 5 years, so that $1,300 is actually $650, depending. Thinking back on my FWD, I've spun the front wheels, maybe 5 times. Unfortunately, I don't think the AWD would have meaningfully...

    Best color for '17 CX-5?

We have a brown CX-5 where I work. I had to go by it several times to be sure it was what it was. It's a very dark brown. The other question not being asked here is which interior, black or parchment.

    Best color for '17 CX-5?

Regarding the silver, it doesn't really show in pictures, but the Gen1 version of it is more metallic. They call it a liquid silver vs. sonic silver, I think. To be honest, I thought they were the same until I went for the drive, and, wait a sec.... I really like the older silver. I've also...

    Best color for '17 CX-5?

Sadly, I'd have said silver, if you could get the old silver. The new silver is a touch too bright for me. Otherwise, the red and gray are both amazing. Anyone have any dust experiences with either and how they hold up in that respect. My Silver CX-5 can go weeks without a wash and you...

    Two things holding me back

I ran two cars, CR-V Touring vs CX-5 GT, for 2016 through Edmunds True Cost To Own. The Honda came in 3.5K less over 5 years. Roughly 2k of that is depreciation, 1K maintenance, the rest of various categories. 2016 may be a bad year because of everything that happened with Mazda but it was...

    Two things holding me back

Regarding paint, http://www.hondaproblems.com/trends/peeling-paint/ I'm not sure if this applied to the CR-V. I could also probably find some good rusty Mazda photos too.

    Two things holding me back

As someone whose kicked the tires on these two cars for the last few weeks, I'm pretty sure they are both good cars. My back of the hand math suggested that the CR-V would have better resale, maybe up to 10% better. I compared my CX-5 with a CR-V, same mileage on KBB.com. I don't think...

Help Me Decide: CX-5 vs. CR-V

Yep! But, it's really not even that close. Some of those positives are deal breakers as negatives. There are some competing cars that might be worth a look, Forester for kicks, saw a Sportage the other day, and like the looks from the side, maybe bump up and look at a RDX but the latter two...
