    US Diesel's big splash introduction

Thing is, there's only one Mazda dealer in these parts and it's not in the city where I work. I would have to take a 1/2 or full day off to get the car serviced. And dealers aren't known for their low service rates.

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

I live in an apartment, so doing it at home is out unless it's ridiculously simple. Having to get to the Mazda dealer for an oil change is very much a non-trivial problem.

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

So, one thing I've been wondering is what happens when you drive into a Jiffy Lube with a Diesel CX-5? Will that go well or is an oil change now a do-it-at-home thing / go to the dealer thing?

    Which CX-5 would you get?

I vote none. Go here for better internet pricing. https://www.carjojo.com/search?makeid=28&modelid=2454&optionid=883530&q=2017+Mazda+CX-5+Touring+auto&radius=250&trimid=13314&zipcode=43002 If it's AWD, which I couldn't tell in the initial post, then that's a bit higher and the price fairer...

So, in US gallons, we can expect 30 US MPG from the diesel? That's not terribly inspiring.

Carplay and Android Auto coming soon? Crossing fingers...

I don't know why this post triggered me but it did. Anyways, I hadn't thought about this, because I've never had real-time navigation in a car or the need in a commute, but a lot of tourist's come to where I live. The traffic around these parts is pretty horrible, especially on weekends...

Carplay and Android Auto coming soon? Crossing fingers...

I looked up the Camry on Crutchfield and it looks like you might be able to replace the entertainment system. They only had a single device so I'm not convinced but they didn't say it couldn't be done.

Carplay and Android Auto coming soon? Crossing fingers...

When I test drove a Honda Accord Hybrid, and couldn't fit in the EX-L I started looking at the base hybrid model. Two things it was missing were navigation and AA/Car Play. So, I went to Crutchfield to see if I could replace it and discovered that, in fact, I couldn't. However, in my 2015...

Paging the Mazda 6 department for a sales update!

The CX-5 is easy, plenty of space, even the GT. The sedans are getting in the 38ish and below headroom range, which is where my problems start.

I owned a 2008 Altima Hybrid for 5 years. I traded a Mazdaspeed 6 for it. It made sense at $4/gallon on my salary and they did an update to the turbo which screwed me up. I found it a very hard car to drive as it was and the update really f'd up the turbo. I haven't driven a current year...

    Where to after CX-5?

I have a 2015 Touring and am aiming for quieter and fewer stops at the gas station. I've looked a bunch of sedans and there's some fit issues that keep recurring. Frankly, if the diesel ever shows up it should fix both. I pulled some C&D test reports to compare noise levels. The 2017 CX-5...

Hi GJ, I find cars an interesting research project. When you look at things you find they all have strengths and weaknesses. For instance, I sat in a 2018 Camry and I simply didn't fit. I have not a doubt that it's a very good car but you gotta fit. Other cars might package their features...

They've gotten a lot better. I caught hell for saying this but I've given serious thought to buying a Malibu, still am actually. The Equinox is an interesting vehicle and they're selling a ton of them. No way do I think their diesel would be better than a CX-5 diesel. Heck, for their base...

I never found any diesel numbers on it but what I have found is definitely not class-leading.

Carplay and Android Auto coming soon? Crossing fingers...

From what I've read the entertainment system in Honda's aren't something to brag about. I drove an Accord, no knobs and gave up trying to adjust it. It's got a volume swipe on the steering wheel. The CRV was better but seemed slow. It's also the area that seems to give Honda the biggest...

Carplay and Android Auto coming soon? Crossing fingers...

Entune is a turd (hereafter referred to as Enturd). Enturd uses a third party app for navigation that runs on your phone. The way I understand it is that it requires both bluetooth and a plug in connection to run a third party app off your phone which works as navigation. You can run other...

2017~2025 CX-5 DTE (Drive to Empty) ratings

Routinely refill in low 300's for 11+ gallons. Right at 28 MPG. Light comes on around that time. You can theoretically go 400 in a 2017 but you'd have to be pushing empty at that point. I have a 2015 so it does slightly better.
