    I-activesense availability on Touring trim

I have a 2015. I gave the 2017 a hard look. Even contacted the dealer by email to see about buying it but got silence, followed by a form response, followed by spam. Car dealers just won't do email. Ended up testing a sedan, like the feel of a sedan, but couldn't find the right one until...

    I-activesense availability on Touring trim

I think a Touring with i-activesense is by far the best package you can get for this car. Plus, you can install navigation relatively cheaply, get quieter 17" wheels, and you don't get stuck with glass in the roof. The only thing I would miss is the HUD, I drove an Accord Touring the other...

    Your first oil change!

As recently as a few years ago I had Jiffy Lube change my oil, full synthetic per manual, and they wanted to put 3,000 miles on the reminder sticker. You know, so I'd know to come in and get my oil topped off.... Krist!

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

Same here, only with a 2015. A diesel is close to the perfect ride.

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

Well, it's not like the requirements for diesel in this country are a secret. Unless something radically changed in the last few months regarding getting government OK they should have had it dialed in better before they started promoting, even with the VW incident. I think they've changed...

    Promotional Test Drive

HELL YES! I've been looking at upgrading my 2015 for a few months now. I have it down to a few vehicles, the only SUV like vehicle being the CX-5, the others are sedans, and I'd be a very happy camper if I could do this. I have a 100 mile route I'd like to drive that includes my commute and...

    2017.5 MAZDA6 updates announced

The top 7 in sales are amongst the best reviewed cars in the segment. The only one that doesn't really belong there is the Altima. The saddest thing is the Chrysler 200 above the 6. I do agree that all things considered the 6 should be doing better than it does, which is awful. I know you...

    My Thoughts on a 2017 CX-5 Touring

That's close to how I felt when I test drove it. I'm not sure I agree on the throttle response. I had to punch it once and it didn't offer much in a minor time of need. Also, I thought it was heavier to turn, but in a really minute way. I'd love to see a car dealer turn their loaner fleet...

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

While I doubt a salesperson has any idea on this, it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Three months ago it was the combustion engine forever, now it's everything electric. AA/Car Play is coming soon (for how many years), wait, we're partnering with Toyota to make our own thing, and Toyota has...

Mazda to make all cars hybrid or EV by 2035

Mazda is sure spending a lot of time telling us what it's going to do. Now, about the doing part.....

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

When I test drove the 2017 it was noticeable sitting in the parking lot with the engine running. That was one of 3 things that stood out for me. The second was that it seemed heavier. It is, but not that I'd notice it, it was likely due to the car simply being softer on the road than my...

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

A 2017 Audi A4 will do it. You can get one around $40K depending on features, which can put it over 50. You could also get a used one which would probably be under 40. This, actually, is the closest thing I've seen to a perfect car. It's just not the right car.

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

Thanks for the additional information. I guess if they measure it using the same scenario each time at least it's a relative score. It's sort of like the scale being off, as long as it's off in the same direction each time, and goes down you are losing weight. Of course the cars themselves...

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

The new CX-5 scores very well, beating most modern sedans and it's right there with the Bentley. They did a really good job with this car. I'd be curious as to how they test these. I find radical differences depending on pavement, wind, speed, etc. My CX-5 performs really well in some...

10,000 mile service - dealer or alternative option?

The normal service intervals are 7,500 miles, or are in everything I've read. I see no gain with arguing with that unless you are in the higher / rougher usage groups. Mazda dealership services are also, to my mind, notoriously expensive. Gotta make sure you lube the doors, after all.

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

The problem with the Honest John numbers is that the RAV4 and CRV are right there with the CX-5. That would imply minimal, if any, improvement, if those are the same versions of the vehicles we had here. The fuelly numbers on diesel are all over the map, ranging from no change, to low 30's...

    US Diesel's big splash introduction

It's not a quiet car. Changing the tires made a difference, taking it to sort of tolerable, but on the freeway it's loud. I didn't notice any difference in the 2016.5 from my 2015 but the 2017 is definitely quieter.

Update #2: My honest update of my CX-5 after 25,000 miles

Eternal Blue is about the only blue color in a car that I've liked. It classes the car up a bit. My OEM tires had what looked to be plenty of tread left at 45K but they were noisy so I changed them to Continental TruContact's. It's not been a life-changing experience but it took my 2015 to...

Carplay and Android Auto coming soon? Crossing fingers...

That's a concept piece, not the actual car. The 6 is a very good looking car. However, it's not a very good car in my opinion. It lacks in refinement. The most interesting thing for Mazda, to me, was in that 3 HCCI review. They commented that it was quiet which probably has more to do with...
