Oil smell during test drive? 2025 CX-5

I am not sure it is an "oil smell", but my '22 did give out some sort of smell in my garage for a few week... and eventually it went away.

Any benefit waiting until late November / December to buy a CX-5?

Dealers usually start to clear out current model year from Labor Day weekend. By Nov/Dec, you will have fewer in stock, but probably better price. Buy at the end of month when salesperson is under quota pressure.

2021 CX-5 CE Turbo - Premium gas required?

I was about to raise that.... some premium fuel only contains detergents as additives.

    New guy here!

Welcome. This is probably the most active Mazda CX5 forum online. Correct me if someone disagrees...

    2017~2025 CX-5 Mud Flap Recommendations?

Professor2, You can buy OE accessories here: Mazdaswag.com Mazdaparts.org The latter has free S&H if you buy more than $100. Both are Mazda dealers. I have bought from both before. Be cautious about buying stuff from Amazon. A lot of those items are knockoffs or poorly made. Quality is...

2021 CX-5 CE Turbo - Premium gas required?

RedBaron, Our base price ('87) is much higher... so, percentage wise, the gap is smaller. Sad.

2021 CX-5 CE Turbo - Premium gas required?

I got a '22 Turbo since new. I put in 87. Two months ago, I started to put in 91 ( highest in CA) to check MPG. I did not find better MPG after a few tanks of commuting (same routes). However, I did feel better acceleration from red light (i.e. >4k RPMs). More than static torque/horsepower curve...

$4,200 a fair price for timing chain cover leak repair (CA)?

To OP: I am in SF Bay Area. I was quoted $1700 for the timing chain cover seepage. (before Covid. Now, probably >$2500 considering the inflation) To be fair, he needs to lift the engine, etc. Not an easy job. As HyFlyer said, if you don't see oil on the floor, let it be. I did. After 2 yrs, I...

Off Topic Got a car and first time in over 15 years, it wasn't a Mazda

Congrats. I have been looking for a NSX for many years.... 2nd-gen ('97 to '05), especially the 2000. No luck so far.... and pending approval from my queen if one shows up.

Mazda Second Best-Ever Month in U.S. Sales History

Based on what I read: Two reasons. 1. Cost: CX-70 does not need to be re-certified since it is essentially the same as CX-90 w/o 3rd row seat and some cosmetic changes. 2. Interior space: CX-60 is based on the rear-drive chassis (longer hood). The interior space of a CX-60 is not much bigger...

2016 CX-5 Parking sensor warning sign reversing and SCBS Malfunction

It seems to me, the processing unit (usually a small black box) of parking sensors fails (not the sensors). If you can locate it (by following the sensor wires), check the connections to the unit. This message: ""SCBS Reverse Malfunction." tells me that the BCM cannot detect this black box...

Wipers with a mind of their own

I replaced the windshield on my '14 Mazda3 with Safelite windshield. Everything works well. There is rain-sensing on my Mazda3. I tested it. The technician did test it before he left.

    What's next for the CX-5?

It is hard to compare fairly, that is not good for CX-70 if many have that impression. https://www.motortrend.com/news/2025-mazda-cx-70-price-msrp-trim-levels/

Wipers with a mind of their own

What OP described (I know, it was from 2020) seems like due to a bad switch. A common issue is condensation inside the housing. That would cause the sensor to be over-reacting initially until condensation is gone. This usually happens to mine in winter night when car just got started up (and...

    What's next for the CX-5?

I think CX5 is at perfect marketing position... don't mess with it. CX-30 is doing well, so is CX-50. Mazda should bring CX-60 to NA to replace CX-70, which is not selling well. (20% of CX90) If one does not need the 3rd row seat, just remove it. Why pay the same or more? Mazda saved money by...

2nd Generation Mazda CX-5 (KF) TPMS system compatibility?

CX-5 won't start. New auto and fob battery. Won't turn over

I second what wlong01 suggested. Have a friend jump start your CX5 and go visit a dealer or wherever you bought the battery from to do a load test. New battery could be defected also. Another possibility is there is a current drain in your CX-5. If the low battery issue persists, you need to...

Off Topic WSJ: Why Americans Can’t Buy Cheap Chinese EVs

Personally, I don't want EVs until solid-state battery is used (safer, lighter or longer range under same weight, and less temp dependent). I don't want my house to burn down, especially. A lot of new batteries that claim to be solid-state are actually semi (having gel-type electrolyte)...
