Vague Transmission Oil Change Recs Vs Common Sense & Reality

Well back then I didn't know I could get definitive answers from you eh?! 😱 I make decisions based on the information that I can gather and understand at the time. Without adult supervision, I have made many questionable choices.

    SkyActiv Oil Analysis Thread

I first found out about Idemitsu in 2018 because of their two-stroke oil.

    SkyActiv Oil Analysis Thread

You are correct. I noticed that the top of the report says that most recent sample was from 5w30. Let me check my order history for the August 2019 sample. I usually order oil a few weeks ahead of time. On 3/6/2019 I ordered Zepro Eco Medalist 0w20... It was Zepro (Amazon.com: ZEPRO Eco Medalist...

*Unpopular Opinion* I just got greased at the dealer and I don't care

It was a fellow CX-3 owner who was told that the dashboard is involved in replacing the struts. I can handle nuts and bolts but please don't make me dive into wires. 😱 I am not the preferred kind of customer for auto repair. I like to bring my own parts and wait around to watch/learn. Only new...

    Cabin Filter = Gross

A fellow member's recent post inspired me to replace my cabin air filter. It's been 5 years and about 100K miles since the last one. I had to take the glove box out because the filter frame is rigid and pushing against the back of the box. It is dirty all right. Hey the back side looks brand...

*Unpopular Opinion* I just got greased at the dealer and I don't care

New and small indie shops (two lifts, one mechanic) are more flexible with scheduling and ok with my smaller projects. Once they become established/successful in a year or two, scheduling becomes problematic, and I'd move on. The last mechanic did a lot of work on my old Suburban in two years...

*Unpopular Opinion* I just got greased at the dealer and I don't care

I also avoid dealerships. Been hopping from one indie shop to another, and now I am trying to learn and DIY until my hips give up. 🙂

*Unpopular Opinion* I just got greased at the dealer and I don't care

There's not a whole lot of room in the passenger footwell. I will find out tomorrow if I need to do more than getting down on my knees. 😬

    Should I lower it?

I understand! In my area there's a group of full size minivans on bags, mostly Siennas and Odysseys. Love how they show up at car meets and just sit down. I looked into getting a used Mazda5 now that I am into campers, overlanding, off-grid and etc. Used 5s are hard to come by and not cheap.

I wish Mazda would bring back the original RX-7

Here is a clip of what an all stock first gen (SA) is like. Stuart was well known on the forum and his pristine SA set a record when sold on BAT. He is now in a different world and missed by many.

I wish Mazda would bring back the original RX-7

There is a large community who are trying to keep old-tech RX-7s running. Only a very small percentage are all stock. Most first gens have gone through some sort of repair/upgrade/restomod. I am not sure if they will drive the same with new technology. Part of the appeal, for me at least, comes...

*Unpopular Opinion* I just got greased at the dealer and I don't care

Haha not so fast... why would I replace the cabin air filter if there's no weird smell inside the cabin and I am not coughing or sneezing? 😂 *Back on his ignore list*

*Unpopular Opinion* I just got greased at the dealer and I don't care

I kept thinking that folks with newer model cars are much younger than I am. All this talk about aftermarket hips helped correct my misconception. 🤦 Grease or no grease, it's wise to take good care of our Mazdas!

Center console top screws location diagram?

Good point. Op said the airbag module has to be removed so the safety system diagram might be relevant.

    Should I lower it?

Back in 2011 I considered putting H&R lowering springs on my 2009 Mazda5 Touring. That was after replacing the rear sway bar with a thick one from Cobb Tuning, which substantially reduced the bodyroll. In your case, is it mainly for the looks? And how much drop do the coilovers give? I had...
