Yes, Mazda essentially uses the AWD system found in Volvo XC-90. No, it does not transfer power from side to side. The Grand Touring Bridgestone Dueler H/L tires are bad...very bad in snow. The Mazda AWD gets you going, but braking & turning is all about the tires and these really suck...

Mine just started squeaking last night. 4500 miles. Brakes work fantastic, however, the squeaking does sound good from a brand new car. I'll give it a couple days & if it doesn't go away, I will be taking it in to the dealer.

Yes indeed a great car for a road trip. My last trip was a few hundred miles but the CX-9 was fully packed. 6 adults + 2 kids + luggage. Very comfortable & we all had a great time!

The problem with the headrest system is (a) viewing angle. It is aimed down more. (b) People in 3rd row (kids, mostly) cannot watch the screen. You CAN do overhead DVD install in a CX-9. I was quoted $150 more labor by Fry's Electronics. They need to fabricate a "special bracket" that mounts...
