Changing the water pump to be on the safe side

How many miles are on your CX9? How much longer do you plan to keep it? My wife's 09 CX9 was at 185k on original water pump and coolant when we sold it a few years ago. I think I added a total of 1/2 qt coolant to the reservoir in the ~10 years we owned it, so it really didn't lose any...

    Mass Airflow Sensors - MPG

I'm curious how changing MAF sensor would impact MPG any significant amount. Going out on a limb, but I believe the CX5 uses a 'typical' closed loop feedback system in which it reads O2 sensors to adjust fuel ratio when it's up to operating temp. This under most part throttle conditions. All a...

Learnings from messing with my 2018 KF CX5

I was going to say it looks lifted. EDIT: Or wait, the 2nd sentence in the OP stated "This is what it looked like when we bought it brand new from the dealer" So that may have been before lowering?

Wrap Shifter Console in Matte Black (Gloss Black Delete)

Looks very nice. I don't have a CX5, but this would be an excellent mode for my Edge. Piano black drives me nuts.

    Heaviness after sound deadening?

Completely agree. That's roughly the difference between 1/2 and 1/4 tank of gas. Running through a tank of gas must make the OP's CX5 go from undrivable to a race car as far as handling.

    Heaviness after sound deadening?

I was also going to ask what brand and how much sound deadening were added? Thinking out loud, not on a CX5, but on my 4 wheel vehicles (SUV's and car, not motorcycle), I do not notice any difference when my wife and 2 kids get in the vehicle as far as handling. I'm sure there is some effect...

2021 CX-9 Wanders at Highway Speed

Maybe they'd be willing to swap the wheel set with the Bridgestone's to your car for just a test drive. That would allow them to rule out (or in) if it's the tires/wheels. I know you had it aligned, but the way you describe it sounds like it's an alignment. Or possibly something ever so...

    Dealer charging for PCM/TCM updates?

I think the term 'buyout' is what's causing confusion. Buyout could mean the dealer is buying out the remainder of a lease (remaining payments + residual) and getting you into a new vehicle, in which you could be losing out on a lot of cash. I was referring to the leasee buying out the lease...

    Dealer charging for PCM/TCM updates?

Wouldn't that be a reason to buy out the lease? Buy it out, trade it in, profit on the $6-8k equity.

2013~2016 Favor to ask about a sound the MAF sensor makes when shutting down

I can't help with your request (don't have a cx5), but MAF butterfly? Never heard of that. Are you talking about the throttle body?

    Need advice — 2021 or 2022 CX-5 Signature?

I just went through the new (to me) vehicle shuffle a few months ago and was going back and forth for trade or sell. In the end, I sold to Carmax. In MN, we get the tax break when trading in (6.5%). The trade-in offer plus the tax break was still about $2k less than I got outright from Carmax...

    2015 CX-5 Misfire

My wife's old 09 CX9 had a fairly severe misfire at highway speeds under load. The car bucked quite a bit. Never threw a code, so I thought it was a transmission issue, but after some additional testing I started leaning towards misfire. I bought a cheap OBD2 Bluetooth reader (~$20) and the...

2016~2023 Air in CX-9 cooling system or in HVAC drain system?

I agree you can hear air in cooling system...especially the heater core. I did a drain/fill on my 14 Explorer last fall and when I filled it up and started for the first time, I could hear gurgling in the dash. I kept adding coolant until it stopped dropping then took it for a drive. I could...

    2021 CX-9 Burning oil

The one time I brought my wife's CX9 to them was also less than stellar. Had multiple lights on (trac control, abs, stability control) which turned out to be due to low brake fluid. They stated it was due to master cylinder leaking into the booster and recommended I change the master cylinder...

A barrel of oil currently at $125. Should we stock up on motor oil?

One of the problems with stocking up is all of a sudden supply is quickly depleted....further fueling (no pun) price increases.

225/55R19 Tire Comparison Table for CX-5 GT - Many to Choose From

Yikes. Stock tires should not rub anywhere in my opinion. Any chance you brought it up with a dealer?

225/55R19 Tire Comparison Table for CX-5 GT - Many to Choose From

You sure that wasn't from installing/removing the wheel from the car? I do that all the time when installing/removing. If you have that much movement between the wheel/tire and the strut when driving, something must be worn out....although there's not much there. It's a fairly rigid connection...

    CX-5 Service Recommendation

If I were to personally choose any of those, I agree with dunhillmc with just the brake fluid. But, I'll admit, we never had the brake fluid changed in my wife's old 09 CX9 after ~12 years and 185k miles. And, I just had it done for the first time on my 100K+ mile 2014 Explorer.

How to tell if the water pump ruined my engine?

I laughed a little at this, but I know I've done some dumb things that had be completely baffled....and felt like an idiot once I figured out the problem was operator error.

    Is the 2013 CX-9 reliable?

Other's pointed out the water pump already. I'll add that it's a crap shoot if/when it goes. My wife had a 2009 CX9 with 185k miles on it and never changed the water pump or coolant in the ~9 years we owned it and never had any issues. I know others haven't been so lucky.
