Excessive oil consumption - part 2

My car barely uses a half a qt between 7-10K synthetic oil changes since the rear main was replaced, used a more than a qt prior. The car has 202,000 miles on it.

get some synthetic brake slide grease, sta-lub makes some good stuff. Use that for the bushings, worked great for me.

    loss of power?

Full of s***, header install on mine made power and didn't hurt milage at all. That and the HKS might be a bit loud though... I sold my HKS awhile back and put a stock muffler on because it was a bit louder than I could stand.

Excessive oil consumption - part 2

I found it when I totalled the car by hitting a large metal bar on the highway. That punched a hole in the trans case and ripped a 14" gash in the floorpan. I found the leak when I pulled the trans to repair it. I was quite surprised how much oil was inside the bellhousing. :D

    Urethane bushing kit

I'd sure love to find one, the suspension is getting worn on my p5 since it has over 200K on it...

Excessive oil consumption - part 2

I was going through a bit of oil between oil changes... Turned out to be the rear main seal. And no, it wasn't visibly leaking at the trans case/rear of the motor. However, the inside of the bellhousing was caked with 1/4" of clutch dust/oil mix. The reason synthetic burns more is because...

    Rear Right Caliper siezed...AGAIN!

it's possible it's the parking brake cables are sized and not releasing, or the place is not adjusting the parking brake screw correctly. I've got 200K on my p5 and only replaced one caliper and one hub bearing. The caliper was due to the dust cover being torn during a pad install. Bearing...

    Best bolt on yet

I've been saying best bang for the buck is the OBX header and VTCS removal for like 4 years! The stock intake doesn't suck well!

1.5 MONTHS and only 600 miles on it? I'm over 500 in the last week! Yes, Mobil 1 synth since I drove it home from the dealer lot wit h38 miles on it. I replaced one caliper and one wheel bearing so far... One rotor, but it still had plenty left, resurfacing and buying new are about the...

200,000 mile club? I'm now eligible.

I've got AAA, and a backup car.... I'm not worried. Gonna start doing all the stuff soon. It's only my DD, I take the real wagon on trips ( I also spend all my money on the other car) And for anyone that thinks you can't do 7K-10K mile oil changes without damaging your car..... You're WRONG!

    75/80 Dragway Opening Weekend - April 3-5

Can't be worse than it was... That dip at the 1/8th was killer. I watched many cars eat the guardrail there. I almost did too! I cruised by and saw all the trailers leaving. I rolled up to Jimmie Cone in Mt. Airy and got some ice cream with the kids... I'm in Westminster now, but used to...

new owner: keep aftermarket muffler or factory muffler?

I swapped back on my stock intake and muffler after a hundred thousand miles. Too loud, and it hurt the milage a bit. Surprisingly barely any change in power going back to stock. Just a slight bit less around 6K. However I did keep the header and ported/VTCS removed intake manifold. That's...

Today was the last fillup of the P5....

The other belts have been replaced.... When I totalled the car it sat for 6 weeks. The alt siezed while sitting and when I started it, the belts were shredded. The alt was the most expensive part to replace when it was totalled. Actually the gas I used during that time was the most costly...6...

Today was the last fillup of the P5....

Amazingly, every single bulb is original, with the exception of the low beams, original timing belt, tokico illuminas have 170K, 120K on the OBX header, 170-180K on the B&M shifter... something over 100K on the VTCS removal. Original clutch too! rear ended 4 times, front end backed over by a...
