Whilst updating the Nav/Maps (EU version) I could see (if you open the "details" map) that at least 4 software updates were downloaded together with the Nav Maps. These SW updates have however only to do with the navigation system?

Affirm! EU updated now, takes some time to backup and then download the newest navigation maps, but it is worthwile. Here in Belgium we get them free for two years.

That is correct. In Europe, at least in Germany, France, the UK and Belgium (as per the fora) the "crack rate" of the CX-5 windshield went significantly down since FY 2014. At least the ones which were not affected by rocks, stones etc.
