Interesting. The tech was issued 8 seals, gotta expect they were installed. Very strange.

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

SJOA was actually #2 on the revisions. SJOC was the latest and greatest according to my Mazda guy. #4 I think? There's also an updated exhaust gasket which actually is the biggest Factor in preventing this from happening again they're saying.

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

After all that, not to take another 15 min and "burp" the engine. Crazy. So on your repair order did they list the part number PYY1-10-SJ0C for the new head. My mazda guy says they have had about 4 revisions over the years. Curious which one is the latest and greatest

Mazda Dealership alternatives to get 50,000 Mile Checkup?

Yup, brakes fluid and coolant are calander items on my cars. 5 years. I am doing my trans, diff, and xfer case at 50-60, airfilters when I remember, maybe look at the belt at 70, plugs at 60 ish...maybe. and that's it!

    2021 CX-9 Burning oil

I am just curious how the valve seal replacement was documented buy the technician. I have the 53 page mazda r&r instructions on this procedure. If I was the tech, (and this is how we do it in the aviation world), I would just state, "replaced all exhaust valve stem seals in accordance with...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

I completely agree with every thing you said, from this trending in the wrong direction, to these forums being an absolute gold mine of information for people. I can not even begin to remember all the things forums have helped me with over the years. Thats why I always try to add any tidbits...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

You're right it's not sticky. I don't know how I made that mistake, I could have sworn I saw that there was a sticky there. My apologies. I doubt there's a way to do this but it would be a fun stat to know how many of the 36 cracked head members voted while their membership was less than a week...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

Head machanics dont call customers and this member posted a water pump tsb. So everything on this individual will have to take with a grain of salt

    2021 CX-9 Burning oil

Post a copy of the "fix" when they replace the exhaust valve stem seals. I don't even trust that they replace those. That's probably another lie

    2021 CX-9 Burning oil

This is how I look at it. Mazda acknowledge they had an 11-month period with certain VIN numbers that they installed seals that were either defective or the design was poor. So if the engine falls inside of a vehicle that falls inside of the VIN it's not a matter of IF it's going to start...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

What year is your car? Did they say where the leak was coming from? Just an FYI, the water pump document is not an issue. Well actually it is an issue, the issue was people that didnt know what they were doing were unnecessarily removing and replacing good water pumps. Small evidence of...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

Most forums I have been to the threads that are sticky-ed are reserved for solid info that new and old members can quickly find to assist them. This is far from that. This puts Mazda in a bad light in the eyes of people who can't get their head around that the info is gibberish. Mazda sells...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

Yea, it represents gibberish statistically. Another good analogy is if you're standing in a Firestone Tire store and ask everybody that walks in the door have your tires worn out? And they answer yes! and then the dumb people say THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! :). (maybe using Firestone wasn't the best...

    Poll 2.5T Coolant Leak/Engine Replacement

I don't know if this has been addressed but this poll is meaningless. Here is why. The sample being polled is not a valid sample. You really need to remove any of 38 vote that were made by people BROUGHT TO THIS FORUM BECAUSE THEY WERE SEEKING INFO ABOUT THIER CRACKED HEAD. It not a random...

    2021 CX-9 Burning oil

Need to be consistent with oil monitoring. Check before first start of the day, parked level, preferably in same spot. Only way to establish a trend.

    2021 CX-9 Burning oil

Meanwhile all this oil being dumped into the combustion chamber is plugging up your turbo and your cats. Ridiculous. The dealers dont want this job in their shop because mazda only pays 4.4hrs at the warranty rate and most stealerships dont have any good techs. The 57 page r&r for the seals...

    2021 CX-9 Burning oil

I read on social media someone had luck with this procedure: 1 Make appt at dealer and open a case with Mazda USA. GET THE CASE NUMBER. Will look like 00058xxx 2 Buy ramps and a $12 code reader 3 prior to appt drain oil to just to the tip of the stick which will ilum the light and set the...

What engine oil are you guys running?

Looks like your oil only has the API SN ? Thats a pre 2011 standard. Then they came out with SN+. Now SP is the latest and greatest. I actually got a jug of castrol about six months ago that was still on the SN+ Spec. I still used it.

    2021 CX-9 Burning oil

Those seals need to get changed but the dealer is a crook. I bet frustrated owners after having oil added, sensors changed and other bs diversionary tactacts have considered just draining out 1.5qts, triggering that brand new low oil level switch, setting the code and presenting the car to the...
