    Need Stiffer Rear Coils

Keep us posted! Also, keep us posted if you do try to fit the front springs — I couldn't tell if they were a similar shape to the Mazda5's front springs. If this is the case, I may ditch the strut spacers and buy some CX7 springs when it comes time to redo the front shocks (should be soon as...

    Need Stiffer Rear Coils

I'd did some research and discovered that the gen 2 Mazda5 and the CX7 share rear suspension. I looked at some diagrams as well and saw the rear springs were similar shapes. And, finally, I called up a couple of Mazda dealers in the area who were actually able to measure the Mazda 5 and CX7...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Yeah, I remember coming across that when I was researching fog/driving lights. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of grille mesh or even room between the grille and impact bar to mount these lights stealthily. But I always liked the look of exposed lights (because rally car!). I'm actually...

    Need Stiffer Rear Coils

Agreed. The only downside is they rust up pretty quickly from the salty Canadian winters. I need to take a day this summer to sand down both all season and winter wheels and give them a coat of rust paint.

    Need Stiffer Rear Coils

Yeah, I went with the coils from a 2012 CX7 AWD as the vehicle is heavier than the FWD (by a couple hundred pounds if I recall), so I figured the springs would be beefier. The springs are cylindrical — no tapering or anything. Like I said, I identical to the 5's springs, but taller. So yeah...

    Need Stiffer Rear Coils

Didn't notice any difference in the rear after the springs other than everything sitting a bit higher — probably a good 2 inches. And yeah, just a direct spring swap using existing Mazda5 mounts. I eventually upgraded the rear shocks to KYB gas-a-just (for Mazda5) just because the stock ones...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

I attempted to replace our LCAs over the winter only to find the larger bolts were seized in the arms. My impact hammer wouldn't even get them to budge. Ended up having to take it to a shop to get the arms cut out and replaced. Next on the list: front-alignment!

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

The front end of our 5 has gotten a lot of attention as of late. Swapped out the stock halogen low beams with HIDs, installed a pair of Hella 500 driving lights with retrofitted HIDs, and finally replaced the stock horn with a dual horn setup (Fiamm Freeway Blaster high and low tones).

    Need Stiffer Rear Coils

I addressed this issue with our 5 a couple years back by replacing the stock rear coils with CX7 rear coils. They're the same diameter, but slightly taller. This won't be the go-to solution for folks wanting to maintain stock ride height (or going lower), but that wasn't a concern for me. I...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

As promised, here are a couple of pictures of our 5 with the new roof rack/basket setup installed. Cargo basket loaded with canoe, jogging stroller (with wheels removed), and a bag of sand toys for the kids. And here's a shot of just the van with the basket up top. The rack and basket...

Mazda5 Interior / Cargo Flexibility Photos

Did some bathroom renos this weekend needed a tub. Fit beautifully! The tub surround walls did not fit so easily. The box was over 80" long, so I had to prop one end of the box up on the front seats with headrests removed. Let's just say it was the most uncomfortable drive home for a 6'1" person.

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

T minus 3 days till camping. Roughed out a decent location on the roof to fit the Loadwarrior w/extension! The distance from the bottom of the rack to the roof is perfect. Should be enough clearance to compensate for any sagging in the crossbars (shouldn't be much as I'm using sturdy steel 1"...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Since 2nd gen Mazda 5s don't come with a roof rail option, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I successfully installed some DIY roof tracks to fit my Loadwarrior with 18" extension. The stock roof rack mount points are just too far forward for the setup. This allows me to freely adjust...

    Post pics of your Mazda5

Mazda5 preview Hi all! Loving all the 5's posted here. Thought I'd post a Photoshop'd preview of what's to come for us. My wife and I just had our second baby and have quickly learned that our 2007 Mazda3 sedan is by no means an ideal family vehicle. So, as soon as the newborn dust settles...

    Post pics of your Mazda3!

Here's my 2007 i Sport sedan! It's no performer by any means and I have no plans to drop it, boost it and make it loud. Instead, I've focused more on practicality for traveling. Just installed a Loadwarrior cargo basket on custom-made cross bars (all for under 200 bucks), so now we're ready for...
