Any decent 2.5t mileage reports yet?

I get 20.6 long-term, mostly due to lead foot. I get around 25.5 on long highway trips, again lead footing it. Best trip was 27.4, mostly leisurely driving on long country back roads with no stops.

Hit 7060 miles since July 10th!

So with 2.5 weeks to go before I hit the 1 year anniversary of ownership, I'm at 23,000 miles! Reliability has been great. I had a surge issue where engine was surging when stopped "rrrrrrr, rrrrrrr, rrrrrrr." It happened twice in one day, again about a week later and NOTHING since. Could have...

2016 Mazda CX-9 GT Surging when stopped...

Dealer looked at it during last service and found no issues and no codes. It was likely a dirty sensor or some transient issue. I have not experienced the issue since. I have been running Top Tier gas recently, that may have helped but not certain.

Test drove a CX-9 Signature "dreadful A/C" is correct

Not exactly...the front and rear AC you the same compressor and condenser. You have a front system evaporator and a rear evaporator. That means your vehicle only makes "X" amount of cold and then you can choose to blow that cold in the front, back or some combination of the two. If you only...

Test drove a CX-9 Signature "dreadful A/C" is correct

So we've had some temps over 95F recently with the dashboard temp gauge reading 106F ambient when getting into the car parked in the sun in the hot work parking lot.(shocked) So I've noticed a few things... First, if the windshield is facing the sun, the car is MUCH hotter than when the sun is...

Class of 2016-Up: Who uses regular and premium gas and do you notice a difference?

+1 So I've run a few more tankfuls of premium gas through my CX-9 and I'm getting NO difference between regular at 87 and premium at 91 octane. I'm averaging 20.6 to 21.5, regardless of gas. The variation at the moment depends more on weather and when i leave for work. If I leave for work or...

Who is towing with their CX-9?

Just curious, what are you using to measure your trans temp? Aftermarket gauge or some factory option. I don't see a factory option for that on the newer CX-9.

Who is towing with their CX-9?

I've looked and can't find any reference to Trailer Stability Assist on older CX-9's. It doesn't mean it wasn't available, I just can't find any reference. Check your owner's manual, if it doesn't specifically state it in there, you might not have it. Mazda's current literature states it's part...

Class of 2016-Up: Who uses regular and premium gas and do you notice a difference?

Update: I ran 2 tanks of 91 and one tank of 93, doing some towing on the 2nd tank of 91. I didn't notice any real-world difference in performance. The 91 did give me piece of mind in regards to knock/ping protection while towing about 1800lbs and another 300lbs in the cargo area. I didn't...

Who is towing with their CX-9?

I found out the feature I mention above is called Trailer Stability Assist (TSA). It uses the Dynamic Stability Control with Traction Control System to adjust braking and torque to reduce any sway. As I said above, it does a great job and is an under-mentioned feature on the CX-9. It takes some...

Class of 2016-Up: Who uses regular and premium gas and do you notice a difference?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the ECU is basing timing off of detecting knocking. The parameters that can be theoretically tweaked by the ECU are timing, boost pressure, mixture or throttle if it detects knocking. I'm not sure which one (or combination) the CX-9 uses, just listing the...

Class of 2016-Up: Who uses regular and premium gas and do you notice a difference?

So with 20K on the clock I have run exactly 4 tanks of premium gas through my rig. The first two were right after I bought it, because I wanted to get a feel for the HP difference. I never noticed a big difference and went right back to regular. The other two times were towing long distances...

Test drove a CX-9 Signature "dreadful A/C" is correct

20K miles on the clock, a lot of driving in 90F+ temps and NO issues with the AC WHATSOEVER! For the record, I'm a "BIG guy" (AKA FAT, over 375 when I bought it, 313 now) I'm usually HOT while everyone else is comfortable. But with the CX-9 I've had no issues, that is with black leather seats...

Have the A/C "issues" been resolved with the 2017 model?

I've got the black leather seats, the dark blue paint, combined with that huge dash area and the vehicle absorbs a lot of heat from the sun. I have the stock dark tint in the rear and side windows and I keep the shades UP in the rear seats all the time. I do not find the AC to be an issue, even...

Who is towing with their CX-9?

I tow an Aluma 6810 utility trailer with my 2016, pulling either materials for projects at the house, moving stuff for family or a combination of a motorcycle with a sidecar or two single motorcycles. The weights so far have been light, with the max being about 1800lbs and the trailer weighing...

Do anyone else's drink holders get warm on longer trips?

The console and cup holder area on my 2016 get VERY hot on long highway trips, as does the driveline "hump" itself. I think there is a lot of hot air and radiant exhaust heat flowing through that area under the car and the console traps it. I will occasionally go into the console while driving...

2016 Mazda CX-9 GT Surging when stopped...

Hello, just wanted to provide an update, well an "un-update" as I didn't do anything about the issue. ;) This problem went away and work got busy so I didn't take it to the dealer. Recently when decelerating (coasting, foot off gas) and then accelerating there is a harsh surge, almost like the...

2016 Mazda CX-9 GT Surging when stopped...

I was thinking sensor or vacuum leak but I'm baffled as to why it's intermittent. It was doing it at some stops and then not at others.

2016 Signature Snowflake White Pearl paint chipping way too easy

My 2016 in Deep Crystal Blue seems to be picking up chips and pits more than my 2012 CX6 did. I'm seeing more pits and small chips in my windshield as well. My commute has also changed in the last year to more back roads and rural areas. I don't know if the paint is soft, if the CX9...

2016 Mazda CX-9 GT Surging when stopped...

Hello I have a 2016 CX-9 GT with about 15,000 miles on the clock. Today when coming into work I coasted up to a stop and noticed the engine was surging while stopped with brake applied. It was surging from idle to a few hundred RPM's over idle in a steady rhythmic pattern...
