    I dumped my CX-5 finally

Well, this is the era of each individual deciding what the truth is for themselves. ;) Like I said this is one of those subjects that has an intangible factor that cannot be quantified with numbers. You feel the warranty is worth the money, so for you it is. I'm not trying to argue to the...

    New CX-5 GS vibration issue

But again the question is did you trade off some degree of refinement in warmer weather? The liquid mounts do their job very well when they aren't frozen. I think Mazda makes great engines and transmissions, but refinement was never really their priority for them. These liquid mounts are what...

    Auto Headlight problem.

Most likely explanation was ice on the windshield blocking the front camera. This causes the auto high beam control to be disabled, but it would also have illuminated other warning lights for systems such as adaptive cruiser. Assuming you have a Grand Touring model. The other possibility is...

    I dumped my CX-5 finally

I have heard the Toyo A36s are not that great, but since they're pretty new there is a lack of reviews still. I know I'm not impressed with the ones on my CX-5. Even for an A/S tire they do poorly in the snow. It's clearly meant to be a quiet highway tire and that's it.

    I dumped my CX-5 finally

It's helpful to separate fact from preference. It's a provable fact that, statistically speaking, extended warranties are not a good investment. The math on this doesn't lie. But every one of us decides the value of things for ourselves and that's a subjective component that can't be squared...

Auto Lights - What am I doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong per se. In the past these knobs were varistors that adjusted voltage for dimming. What Mazda probably did was leave the original design in place and add an encoder that converts it to digital PWM in order to integrate it into the newer system controller. Many...

    New CX-5 GS vibration issue

Did we ever find out for sure what the replacement part is in the TSB? If it's a new liquid mount with a different fluid viscosity that has a lower freezing point then I'm definitely game to get mine changed. If the replacement mount is a traditional rubber one then it becomes a more difficult...

    Swirl marks on new CX5

This is sadly pretty common. Mine was covered from bumper to bumper in swirl marks too. It didn't even end there, the headlights and taillights are covered in scratches too, and the plastic B and C pillar panels on the doors were ruined. Many dealerships pay an outside agent to come and wash...

Impressions After A month with my 2019 GT - What's with the "Leather" Seats?

After more than a year of ownership the seats are by far my biggest disappointment too. I have no qualms about the quality of the leather, heck mine even has the infamous "bubble" that so many people were complaining about. I figure it's leather it's going to stretch..... But the side bolster...

    AWD activation

It does under certain circumstances. The car takes feedback from various systems to try and judge whether the road conditions warrant running some power to the rear wheels all the time. We know for sure that having the wipers on affects it, and this winter I have become convinced that it takes...

    New CX-5 GS vibration issue

@davmac Since this feels a little bit directed at me, I just want to be clear. I'm not accusing Mazda of screwing customers or not acting in good faith, nor am I suggesting any kind of conspiracy. That's silly and I've never had any patience for that kind of internet nonsense. What I have...

    New CX-5 GS vibration issue

Did they change the liquid filled mount for a traditional rubber one, or did they just re-design a new liquid mount with fluid that doesn't freeze at low temps? If it's the latter then I am definitely interested in getting mine replaced too. I was afraid they would just sub a rubber one and...

2018 Cx5 GT lack of power very weird issue!

Mine has been like this for the last week as our temps have been well below zero the whole time. I'm pretty confident at this point that this is "normal" behavior and that the ECU is severely pulling timing to protect the engine until the oil reaches a normal operating temp.

    New CX-5 GS vibration issue

It's been super cold here all week and my engine has been completely and utterly dead. Feels like it's running on two cylinders. The ECU pulls timing big time at these temps until it is sure the oil temperature is normal, which takes 20-30 minutes of driving to achieve at temps like this. My...

    Oil Usage

My '17 has no observable oil usage so far, but I'm a pretty laid back driver too. Keeping RPMs down is kind of like a game for me most of the time. I do make an exception every once in a while, since I'm not completely dead inside yet. :P My understanding is high RPM operation accelerates...

    Auto Headlight

The auto light sensor does have a sensitivity setting. It's in the vehicle settings on the center console head unit. I think I turned mine down one notch from the default and that behavior has been perfect for me.

No Chatter About The G-vectoring Upgrade

It's subtle, and as you point out it is designed to be, but I noticed the effect on my initial test drive. That moment in most cars when you suddenly realize you need to make a mid-corner steering correction just doesn't happen in the new Mazdas, and I could sense a little bit mechanically what...

    Turbo: nobody home?

There must be a certain set of low temperature and high humidity conditions that cause the Mazda ECU to pull timing really aggressively. Now this is only partially relevant since I have the NA engine not the turbo, but the other day I needed to accelerate around a semi on the interstate on the...

    2019 Signature Vibration/Shake

Is this on a newer concrete highway with a grooved surface? I've found my '17 can shake quite noticeably at those same speeds on that particular kind of road. It seems to be fairly temperature and humidity dependent too. My assumption was that the isolation bushings in the suspension are...

    Turbo: nobody home?

This could be one of two different things: 1) The engine de-tuning itself due to heat soak by pulling timing. This isn't a huge loss of power and doesn't constitute a safety issue. 2) A rare condition in turbo engines where prolonged exposure to very high humidity while running at a steady...
