2" or 2.5" tubing for DIY FMIC setup??

I did spend some time looking at compressible gas fluid flow. There is a calculator type deal you can get on the net and it showed that the hotter the air was, the less mass you could flow through a pipe, which suggests that to get the same flow capability throughout the system, you would want...

    boost question

(iagree) but I would just use the $5 spring mod on the wastegate actuator instead of a manual boost control. Just because its effective enough and much cheaper (and no spiking either, which I think is good)

Why did this car get lazy on me?

I know that the weather does change things around a LOT on a carbureted vehicle like my camaro, but I always thought that fuel injection adapted to the weather conditions - but of course barometric pressure has a direct influence on motor performance - it basically sets the density of the air I...

Why did this car get lazy on me?

Not gonna be heat soaked in the first 10 min of driving. It's not a problem that comes on when the car is really warmed up or in traffic - it just always feels lazy now (compared to what it did). I doesn't have the same reckless tendencies it did. I do think that I have a leak somewhere in...

    Poor mans FMIC piping???

it's true the eBay piping would probably be a better solution i suppose. for the BOV i could get one of those eBay adapter pipes too to go with the PVC though. i dunno. it does sound pretty ghetto fabulous

that will be interesting i bet. might make it more street friendly - or perhaps better fuel mileage?

    Poor mans FMIC piping???

Check this out: what if you used PVC pipe to make you IC plumbing, even if only temporary? Paint it up - wouldn't look half bad probably. i wonder if it would shield the charge air from the ambient engine heat better than alum.?? Not sure how you'd mount a BOV though. Hmmm. Anyone ever...

    Best Spark Plugs....????

Theres a spark plug thread somewhere on here with all the info. Off the top of my head the Denso IK22's are the iridiums , one step colder than stock. Don't know if that's enough for 12psi though.

Why did this car get lazy on me?

So, after I had installed the SLS pipe and mount (intake already on) I did not reset the computer. Probably should have I guess. Didn't think about it. The car was an animal (nevermind the boost leak). If I got on it in 1st, I would just spin. And it would start building boost very...

Or Junkyard. $15 you pull it. woohooo! i guess it would be easy enough for me to try it. I would think the sensor would be the 1 bar version. No reason for the 3 bar style (is that only Gm anyway??)

    question about resonators

A high flow cat will inherently have more open area for the exhaust to pass through, also letting more of the sound go through as well. A regular "restrictive" cat will reflect more sound back up the pipe as there is less chance for it to pass through (less open area).

    question about resonators

I believe a true resonator (no fiberglass packing inside) will cancel a narrow band of frequency - the stock resonator is probably tuned to whatever frequency the inside of the car naturally amplifies to try to reduce any sort of drone at highway speeds. If you take the stock resonator off, it...

2" or 2.5" tubing for DIY FMIC setup??

or u can buy one at a place like Harbor freight tools for a onsale price of around $49. I use mine all the time. love it. High quality it's not , but it gets the job done everytime and beats the hell out of a sawzall (recip. saw)

2" or 2.5" tubing for DIY FMIC setup??

here's the question of the day: is the Perrin kit 2.25" on both sides of the IC?? I know they use a huge IC, so if the 2.25" can feed it effectively, that might be the size.

2" or 2.5" tubing for DIY FMIC setup??

I'm toying with the idea of lurking around the H**** boards for a minute to see what they say. They have been doing this stuff for a while, too. Get a second opinion just for fun.

2" or 2.5" tubing for DIY FMIC setup??

all three of us are thinking the same, but it does not necessarily mean that we see all the angles of course. I have been trying to think of why we might want the small pipe on the turbo side, but I can't quite get it. Maybe a physics major could do some good. used to know one. Haven't...

    626 manifold quetsion....yet another thread

The ECU uses this sensor to adjust timing and fuel needs, because it tells the computer basically how much of a "load" the motor has on it. Vacuum is a great way to see what the load on the engine is like when datalogging and such.
