    Protege5 Cargo panel

I've got a ton of random parts from an MSP and a couple of P5s after my conversion project. PM me with any specific requests and I'll see if I have it.

    MSP5 Conversion Project

Sorry for the double post. I've updated the main post with new pics of the process. Here is my todo list going forward: Things left to do: PR: - Edit and post hours of video footage of the process... Mechanical: - Install SSAFC - Install new exhaust (have a couple of options) - Install 3"...

    Causes for toe-out on a Protege5?

I replaced the ends on my personal P5 a couple months ago. That nut was super tight! So you can twist the tie rod freely once the nut is loose? I was under the impression that you had to pop the tie rod ball joint out of the steering knuckle and twist the end to adjust.

    Causes for toe-out on a Protege5?

Will do. Yeah, I think the guys that aligned my "MSP5" last time I was in did not do this. The car falls perfectly into spec, but the steering wheel is tilted a little to the right. I would love to change tire shops, as these guys are not the greatest (they charged me for 4 new valve stems...

    Causes for toe-out on a Protege5?

Awesome! I'll give this a shot and see what I can do. I've been wanting to learn to do alignments for a while now.

    Causes for toe-out on a Protege5?

Hey all, While I'm waiting on transmission parts to come in for that black 2003 P5, I have another question. The car has a pretty severe toe-out on the front drivers side wheel. it's at least 4-5degrees (maybe more). The bearings seem sound, no wobble in the wheels, rack and pinion seems...

    New to P5 Auto Tranny

This one is a sportronic as well. The only time it "slips" in 1st is when it's in shifter mode, or in 4th in either mode. I've zoned in on a few of the shifter solenoids for two reasons: 1, the fluid was really dirty and 2, I tested each one in the transmission and while each resistance value...

    New to P5 Auto Tranny

Really bad. It was quite black and had some metallic bits in it. Based on the symptoms, I'm going to try and clean out and mess with the solenoids. Connector pin B and F did not click when I attached 12V across them and ground, so I'm assuming they are either toast, or possibly stuck due to...

    New to P5 Auto Tranny

Just dumped the transmission oil and changed the filter and pan gasket. I refilled with some old oil and some new. Problems pretty much persist. It jerks into, 2nd, and 1st and 4th slip pretty much 100%, e.g. they feel like neutral. Is this something that may go away as it "gets used to" the...

How many miles does your P5 have?

Just a quick note on your coolant consumption: Mine was sipping coolant for a while, and I could never seem to find the location of the leak. I didn't have any coolant in the oil, or weird smoke out of the tail pipe, and the radiator was brand new. So when I pulled the engine, the culprit was...

How many miles does your P5 have?

My 02 had 265k until I swapped the engine. Nothing wrong and still had reasonable compression, but I swapped a MSP block/turbo into it. Now her drive train has 143k.

No, engine was off. Ok. I'll grab some xl coffee filters. Is that just to help filter out any larger metal shavings and whatnot?

    New to P5 Auto Tranny

Excellent advice. I appreciate it. Yeah, it looks like even if I check the atf when the engine was cold on a chilly day (it's about 55F here today), the fluid would be lower on the dip stick. And on this P5 it was WAY over both markers. The entire stick is wet. So I'm thinking it was badly...

    New to P5 Auto Tranny

Hey there, I just purchased 2 "beater" P5s from a local Mazda parts place. I got them both for a steal, and my goal was to take good parts off of one (has some racing heart MP3 wheels and a Team Moon exhaust) and get the other one driving to sell for cheap or give to a friend who really needs...

    MSP5 Conversion Project

So it's been a good bit of time since my last update. Work/school got in the way of smooth progress (as it does), but I have finally put "LC1776" on the ground! So far so good! With no mods other than the CX intercooler, she runs! and she looks super nice, too. I'll post some pics soon! So...

Might have to go after market exhaust as well. Appears that the stock muffler took a beating... I might be able to get my cousin to repair it. We'll see.

On second though, I may go ahead and buy the CXRacing intercooler kit over at mazdaspeedtuning. Custom aluminum piping, BOV, and if I need a more beefy cooler later I will already have the piping in place. Anyone have any thoughts on CXRacing's stuff?

    MSP5 Conversion Project

Good to know, thanks for the quick reply. I'll have to call up a mobile mechanic to purge the MSP's system then, and have him do the P5 in the same trip. While I plan to eventually upgrade the intercooler, "stage 1" of this particular project is to do a 1:1 swap of everything as much as I can.
