Still want to know the status of the battery as that causes so many seemingly unrelated issues.

    AWD and flat tire

I agree with the safety reasoning as described, but the basic fact that I was addressing with pcardoza is that the spare won't fit on the front wheels of certain trims regardless of it's safe or not, and some owners do not know this!

    Winter/Snow tires

I think you'll be perfectly fine with all seasons.

    AWD and flat tire

In your case, with your 2019 GTR, yes that's true. But the reason is because the donut spare won't fit on the front due to the size of the brake calipers. The OP has a 2013 and this is not an issue for GEN1 CX-5s. I don't know what the answer is for the OP, but it's not as you describe in your post.

    Winter/Snow tires

You didn't say where in NE you were headed. If you're hugging the coast and just headed up as far as NYC/LI, you'll be just fine on all seasons. If you're going anywhere hilly (CT, MA and up, or PA and west) you'll still be OK as long as the weather is good and the roads have been cleared.

Is there a way to reduce steering effort?

Could just be the difference between the "worn in" tires on your 2014 and the brand new tires on your new ride.

    2014 CX5 Tune-Up items to replace?

Just an FYI to you younger folks (I am 66) that are amazed at the "key" to squeeze out the RTV sealant. They've been around for decades and were commonly used, at least in my "always use everything to the last drop" household, to get all the toothpaste out of the tube! You can get a whole...

    2020 GT • Passenger Side-curtain airbag deployed

Looking at the first picture, perhaps it's just a distortion due to a wide angles lens shot, but the rear wheel looks to be at an odd angle.

    2014 CX5 Tune-Up items to replace?

Yeah, that would be me. No matter how many zip ties I used, they all broke and I just could not get it done while lying on the ground. Took it my mechanic who had an easier time of it using a lift.

2017~2025 Best Winter Tires for the CX-5?

I went with the 225/65/17 DM-V2 Blizzaks. Rated 102S, but I'll never approach that speed on them! Couldn't be happier - feels like I'm driving a snowmobile. Last set was DM-V1s which I also like, but these are better!

Car washes - safe or not?

For some us hand washing isn't possible 6 months of the year. Touchless car washes are better than nothing.

    2014 CX5 Tune-Up items to replace?

The NKG Iridiums are absolutely fine. There is zero documentation that the OEM plugs do anything different than the NKGs - it's all a matter of opinion and hearsay, but no fact-based evidence. Save your money for other items where OEM does make a difference.
