    Mazdas....Mazdas Everywhere

I often wonder about the dealer proximity effect, living in a large suburb and only being 30 min to Toronto, not something I ever think about, with any product. BUT would surely affect my decision if it was the case of a 100+ miles. And not for nothing, but is this suburb Orange County...

    Mazda6 2.5 Slower than Mazda3 2.5?

Is it that much? Car and driver lists the 3 at 3248 lb, the 6 at 3437 lb. Maybe the trims can make more diff in weight than they've listed, but that still seems a lot. But agreed, every little bit of weight can be felt. I have a friend, big guy, would certainly drag me down when riding shotgun...

    Mazdas....Mazdas Everywhere

Well, in a relative sense, we do. For every Mazda, we buy 3 Toyotas. About a third of Toyota's sales. Mazda does not globally sell a third of Toyota sales in a year...would be huuuuuuge. Not that it's their goal to be huge. I did see one search result that shows Mazda at around 1.6m sold 2018...

    2021 CX-9 Changes

Back in the mid 80s dad used to pack us into the Subaru wagon (yup we'd lie in the back seats folded down) and go to NYC. He always wanted things we couldn't get here. Clothing, bikes, VCRs, watches, anything. He'd take tags off and say we brought it all so we owned no duty. Even worked for the...

    Mazdas....Mazdas Everywhere

    For Canada, first half 2020 (not a good year to use due to covid, but was first reference I found) 1. Ford 101 410 2. Toyota 68 376 3. Honda 53 056 4. Chevy 50 062 5. Hyundai 43 640 6. Ram 38 261 (not sure if in USA they consider RAM a brand, apparently we do) 7. GMC 36 503 8. Nissan 34 531 9...

    Mazdas....Mazdas Everywhere

I feel I have confirmation bias with the CX-9 and CRVs since I own. I know worldwide, Mazda is small potatoes. I've never looked into Canadian numbers, but I suspect that it is reflected here. Will see if I can find once the boy stops grabbing this laptop.

Service at dealership or independent shop?

I never thought of this. Seems logical and a great reason to add to my decision making, which is dealer. Especially for in warranty. Not only is their more paperwork to ensure is done outside the dealer, they can always argue if you make a claim...even if all was done right. They love to argue...

    2020 CX9 cargo cover mechanics

A pre covid thread, but got me thinking about covid times... If my cargo cover raised up, I'd not be able to see anything when doing curbside pick up. Small thing, but I usually wait with tailgate up. Got tired of being ambushed at my window by a mouth breather, or having them grabbing all over...

Any Word on the 2020 CX-9 Changes?

Oh, it's definitely not impossible. And very much allowed in terms of regulations, latches, etc. But also, as with any seat-carseat combo, would depend on someone's tolerances for movement in a carseat. Mine are def bigger carseats, esp the Clek. Beast of a seat. But, given it went in no...

    2021 CX-9 Changes

Yup to almost all, seat stitching I could take or leave. CX5 grille...a much higher end look.

Any Word on the 2020 CX-9 Changes?

Since it's been mentioned the bench for kids, if anyone was hoping for centre of bench position for car seat, don't bank on it. Not a deep seat and rock hard, I found it not possible to secure my seats in middle (a Graco and a Clek). I was disappointed, as centre is the safest spot. So, with one...

Any Word on the 2020 CX-9 Changes?

In Canada, 2020 had bench standard. Outboard seats heated. But that doesn't mean one can be found now. Did they say it's an inventory issue? Of course, who knows how long and hard they looked. Or are they saying it was never possible to get that way?

Car and Driver Compact SUV rankings

It wouldn't surprise me to still see a review of CRV on top. And RAV higher. It is Car and Driver though, theyre a finicky bunch. I just feel for one, Car and Driver's 2017 CRV praise has been tempered more recently. Thought I'd seen at least one other that wasn't all rah rah CRV, but this is...

Anyone consider a used Luxury SUV for the price of a new CX-5?

I actually just looked at the Build features on Volvo and Audi, and whooo Volvos are pricey. You're up well over 50k Cdn if you tick some boxes. And forget Jag and the Range Rover Evoque, even more $$$.

Anyone consider a used Luxury SUV for the price of a new CX-5?

Or Volvo XC40? I find this thread interesting as I have the CX5 in mind for down the road. But when I think of the luxury options, I don't think X3 or Q5. Or even RDX. I more think the Lexus NX, Audi Q3 and XC40. All seem to undercut the price of an X3 or Q5. They are smaller of course, and...

Car and Driver Compact SUV rankings

No surprise on cx5. CRV i'd noticed lately not gotten the same stellar reviews it used too, and Tiguan seems to be reviewing better... I would have mistakenly guessed it would be Tiguan #2 and CRV #3. As owner of CRV, I've been happy but sort of wish I had given the Tiguan a closer look 3 yrs...

Anyone consider a used Luxury SUV for the price of a new CX-5?

I find the A-spec still looks great. Small differences compared to regular versions but to my eye seems to make a big diff to how it looks going down the road.

Anyone consider a used Luxury SUV for the price of a new CX-5?

Nissan true. But Honda? Accord a family car that can DRIVE. Compared to a Sonata? Optima? They even still selling the Optima? Civic has rocket versions that compete with WRX. Elantra? Accent? Forte? I'd be offended if Hertz passed me keys to an elantra. Sure, the Telluride is killing it...

Why does Mazda insist on using black plastic?

I'm not a fan, but Audi does black in same way on $70k A6 wagon. It's likely better quality...but black trim it is.

    Off Topic Favorite Websites?

Car and Driver. Love to dream. And for same reason, realtor.ca which is the Canadian Multiple Listings Service for real estate. Sort of like Zillow in USA. I get a lot of ads too from Sotheby's real estate Canada, and a couple high end Toronto real estate companies. As long as I get those ads...
