What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I applied clear silicone grease to the rubber grommet boot thingies that attach the engine cover to the engine. Now the engine cover installs and comes off easily. .00852 HP added!!

    Usefulness of 360 camera

Front camera at the bumper level. Genius!! Especially when parking in garage. 360 cams are great for zombie apocalypses though.

    Mixing OEM coolant with aftermarket

Right exactly. I went down the coolant rabbit hole 1 year ago. At any rate JDM manufacturers in particular Toyota have very stringent standards for antifreeze/coolant. The U.S. manufacturers like Ford were like...umm we're just gonna follow/copy those JDM guys. The rest is history. So when PEAK...

    Mixing OEM coolant with aftermarket

I've already flushed (my mechanic machine evacuated old fluid and pumped in new) both cars (CX-5 and Mazda 6). In that case I can go with Peak Asian blue or green. They are the same stuff except for the color dye. In my case I had the blue pumped in. ...The cool part is the Peak with Yellow...

Average MPG less than 20mpg, am I alone?

Not so much cold weather but a cool engine and taking short trips will report shorter MPGs.

    Oil filter - 2.5L Turbo

You should've asked him for 1 filter for a 2.0l CX-3 then 1 for a CX-9.......then tell him "so the same filter product number is used for two different type of engines?" If that doesn't alert him..........lol.

    Stock Suspension Dissapointment

Pitter the CX-5 has an aggressive stock shock/strut set up. You can get softer aftermarket ones I believe.....also adjustable ones too.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

...yes its a closed system. A reputable shop can find the leak via UV light or if they have an expensive device that detects the leak. What I wanted to advise folks is that the old worn Schrader valves (looks like the tire valves) is one cause of the leak. Its a cheap and permanent fix to...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

On the CX-5 if you notice cold air is not blowing consider changing both Schrader valves....evacuate, then recharge. Had a mobile mechanic come over and do it for $120. Includes new refrigerant too.

Ended up going with the Acura RDX...

Man that sucks. Pretty sure you've got positive equity. Used RDX and used RX350 are what we're looking into but used car prices are crazy. Prime is like a unicorn I can't find one....and for MSRP lol. The new CX-50 looks promising as I heard that Mazda may implement some hyrid tech into it...

How does one actually get through to Corporate Mazda Customer support?

This is how I resolved an issue as well. In my case I advised the dealer to double check with Mazda USA if they can verify if a certain part/service was covered under warranty. The dealer later called me back to advise they got approval to cover warranty (and perhaps even non-warranty) stuff.

Hey Uno!!! How the heck you scored a Prime?!?! I'd get a Rav4 Prime over an RDX.

    Blown CX-5 Head Gasket?

^^ OP mentioned that he's strapped for cash and wants instructions on doing a rebuild. Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the cheapest used engine he could find? Perhaps doing a teardown to identify what's good and what needs to be replaced? ....also OP if going the used engine route you may need...

    Blown CX-5 Head Gasket?

There actually was a time when you could get them that cheap. OP, contact LKQ or visit their ebay store where they sell used skyactiv engines. http://www.ebaystores.com/LKQonline/_i.html?srchdesc=y&_nkw=mazda+engine&LH_TitleDesc=1&store=LKQonline&submit.x=0&submit.y=0& It looks like their...
