Picked up my new 22 GT

Congrats on the new 22. The weighted steering wheel helps give you more precise steering at freeway speeds and during corning. Having too light a steering wheel weight and it becomes jittery and artificial.

    Intake valve cleaner recommendation

I could not find the STP Intake Valve Cleaner. I found the CRC Intake Valve cleaner locally after visiting 5 stores whom all sold out. 6th store had 1 can left. I asked the clerk about it and she said the CRC cans sell out once they hit the shelves. Some context behind it: The CRC Intake valve...

    Intake valve cleaner recommendation

Guys!!!! I am very happy to report a very positive report with my intake valve/injector cleaning project. I wanted to achieve 3 goals: 1. Use of low cost and accessible products. 2. No bogging, stalling, limp mode, popping, misfires. 3. Low skill level/low risk. Products used, price and why: -...

    Intake valve cleaner recommendation

Oh ok. The BOTIG forum folks were impressed with the Skyactiv GDI engine's ability to minimize deposits on the valve vs other manufacturers. Mazda advised the intake valves were designed to operate above 400 degrees to minimize deposits from forming. Hence why short trips in cold weather means...

    Intake valve cleaner recommendation

Good info here and love for CX-5/Skyactiv engines https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/skyactiv-intake-valve-deposits-photos.328668/ The thread mentions that skyactiv engines come stock with catch cans. Is that right?

At the risk of a stupid question.......ah what the heck. How would one get access to and remove the valves?

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I pulled and inspected to MAF to my surprise the actual sensor and the film surrounding it looks brand new. (CX-5 @130k miles and Mazda6 @84K). I went ahead and cleaned them anyways with CRC MAF cleaner. I do have an AEM DryFlow filter in each car since brand new. I credit the fact I cleaned...

First oil change on 2020 CX-5 Signature: WTF Surprise?

I'm Resurrecting old thread as I forgot to mention a pretty nifty solution I tested during last few oil changes to expel old oil out (for those with Fumoto valves). Upon doing an oil change I usually save the bottle with some leftover oil in it. Perhaps 1/8 quart or so? Anyhow when the time...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I learned that in another country (UK, Canada?) that outside plugs are not used. Although I do carry outside plugs for emergency use while in the middle of nowhere...I don't use them 99% of the time. If I notice I've got a nail/screw in the tire and its causing a leak I keep/use rubber cement...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Dumped a bottle of SeaFoam Fuel Injector cleaner in the good ole 2013 CX-5 at about half tank and ran through low tank. No difference felt. Gonna try the CRC intake valve cleaner soon.

Probably my fault - injector question

Know this...your 2018 CX-5 is a used compact SUV meaning its in high demand in the used market. They WANT/NEED your trade in. Run Premium for now if that's what it takes to make the light go away. I seriously think you should take the wait and see approach. See if the problem goes away...

Probably my fault - injector question

^This is correct. No need for OP to jump to conclusions and stress out if the car is running fine. Sometimes injection cleaning (depending on what dealer actually did) may involve codes to alert the driver. Codes which may go away after a while or may be cleared using a cheap OBDII scanner like...

    2017 Brake/Rotor replacement at 105k miles - recommendations? Rockauto?

I like to check my brake pads at least 1x per year for thickness and even wear. I then test the pins via pulling/pushing the caliper for movement. I re-lube as needed although another reason could be trapped air. Simply removing the pin and re-inserting releases said trapped air. At that point...

    Intake valve cleaner recommendation

The ''clean enough" would suffice for most people's needs imho to overcome time/skillset. Project Farm on Youtube did some pretty cool videos comparing seafoam, techron, ect and other youtubers report pretty much any reputable brand provides better than nothing results. My personal favorite =...
