    Warner-Hitachi K04 turbo Info for MS3&6

"I met a guy" who CLAIMS . . . So, if you ran into me at a meet and I said that you could hit 400 by adding diesel fuel, would you believe me too? It may be possible to hit 340 on corn under ideal conditions, probably on an optimistic dyno, but I would not believe the word of a stranger. See...

    First time tuning

Gen 2 has a dash boost gauge, but it does not go high enough to use with a tuning solution. AP will report boost when OP gets to that level. But, I hope everyone knows that with the stock sensors on our cars, the boost sensor maxes out of voltage range at approximately 22.5 psi. Not that...

    First time tuning

Good research OP. Searching and reading is essential for this platform. Personally, I'd go with a good SRI or CAI and the RMM mod and stop for a month or so and get used to how progressive mods work before moving on up. That way, if you run into problems you know what mod is associated and...

    Warner-Hitachi K04 turbo Info for MS3&6

You posted in a thread where the LAST post was over FIVE YEARS AGO! Ugh! I know this is your first post, but please let's keep it current. BTW either your friend has a unicorn K04, a very optimistic and ***** dyno operator, or he has a custom tune running an E85 fuel blend. That is possible...

Holy dead thread revival! You do realize this thread is almost TEN YEARS OLD and totally irrelevant to this forum?

Falken azenis FK453, anyone have a review on em?

Mike's advice is spot-on. If you really want traction get true summer tires and change out for winter tires if the climate requires it. I tried to use UHP all-season tires with the best rating according to the reviews of Tire Rack -- Pirelli P-Zero Nero A/S. Horrible mistake. Yes, they do...

    50K 5.5 Years, vvt noise.

I'm at almost 90,000 miles and still on the original belt. I inspected it closely when replacing the tensioner. No cracks or fraying. I'll keep an eye on it, but did not see a reason to replace it just due to age or mileage alone.

    50K 5.5 Years, vvt noise.

Yes, get the Gates tensioner part. Should be able to get it at any "brick and mortar" local auto parts store. I don't remember the part number, but can look it up if you can't find it. I think it is better than OEM. Probably will not need to replace the belt, itself. I didn't. The R&R...

    Headlight Adjusting

Check to see if the car has a roller rheostat on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. It is in the same area as the dimmer for the dash lights. It rolls up and down. Do this BEFORE messing with the light adjusters under the hood. Rolling that control up or down raises or lowers the...

Post your free mod ideas for the MS3

General rule of thumb is that in a 3000 lb car, (we are a couple hundred heavier), you knock off about .1 second in the quarter mile for every 100 lbs. reduction. Think of it the other way, too. Put a 200 lb buddy in the passenger seat in a street race from a dig and you'll be about .2...

    any performance mazda speed3 websites?

^ Truth. But, bar none, MSF is the absolute, best, most highly advanced, and most detail oriented source of "spot on" accurate information for hard core Mazdaspeed performance. Period. It would be very hard to ask a question that has not already been investigated and answered in detail...

    Busted part suggestions

There are rare, really rare, occasions when adhesives like proper cure epoxy are justified. This may actually be one of them, given the composition of the part and its function. I think you should give it a try. Make sure your bonding surfaces are absolutely pristine clean, find a way to...

    Weird noise help..

^ Truth. There were marks on the inside of my valve cover when the dealer replaced my timing chain and did the VVT fix. But I had dual noise issues. When the warranty work above was done, then we could hear the belt tensioner rattling when tipping in the throttle.

    Bee*R rev limiter?

Can you spell R-I-C-E? And can you spell - B-L-O-W-U-P the exhaust system and probably the turbo? There are legitimate reasons to retard timing and dump fuel in racing applications on turbo engines. This is ALS, or turbo anti-lag system, also known as a "bang bang" system. The idea is to...

    Bee*R rev limiter?

Questions to OP: I seem to recall that you have an aftermarket downpipe. It is catless? Do you have a midpipe or race pipe with a cat, or are you totally catless? The reason I ask is that cutting ignition only (even if possible on our DISI engine's ECU -stock or AP tuned) but not fuel is a...

    fuel pump acting up?

Are you actually datalogging or simply visually, real time monitoring the fuel pressure? If you're just watching a digital readout, you can miss significant negative data that would show up on the datalog. A lean out of AFR due to low fuel pressure can happen in less than one second. This...

    fuel pump acting up?

^This. OP, listen to this man. He speaks truth. With your mods you MUST upgrade that pump. Putting a new stock pump on the car without upgrading the internals is a recipe for disaster. If you have already upgraded the internals in the stock pump on the car now, some might say it is...

Random Misfire Code Under Hard Acceleration

^ This. I agree. If the new plugs are the one step colder NGK's (see my mods below) they come gapped waaaaay too large. At OP's mod level, stock heat range will be fine. In any event, gap with OP's mods should not exceed .032" and would be best gapped tighter - .028".
