    rear shock leaking fluid

Glad you got the problem solved. I'm at 91,000 miles and just upgraded shocks and struts to Bilstein HDs. OEM parts never leaked, but they had very little rebound or compression resistance left in them.

    New Mazda Owner (oil chage)

Just use Shell a Rotella T6. 5w40. Period. This is the best choice for the MS3, especially one that is older and likely to have over 50k miles. Equally important is using a good oil filter. I just buy those from Mazda.

New MS3 owner, noticing smell from hood

Only your nose can find it. Smell can't be photographed, videoed or sound recorded. There are hundreds of normal and abnormal smells that can emit from the engine bay. Use your nose to identify the source, or take it to the dealer.

What have you done to your MS3 today?

Just installed Bilstein HD (B6) struts and shocks with SPC rear camber arms. Pushing 90,000 miles. Will be replacing sway bar end links to address some "clunk." This car is still an absolute joy. I get a big grin on my face every time I get behind the wheel.

    New Mazda Owner

Search the threads. Learning should not be quick. Welcome to the community. Please read the modding threads carefully. What does "fully stocked" mean? Does that mean no aftermarket mods? You also need to know your car well. Do you know your warm engine static compression? Have you done a...

    I got my new ms3

Intake, racepipe and Hypertech. Beyond that you'll need upgraded fuel pump internals.

    Brake Pads

Hawk HPS. A good step up from stock. Street friendly, yet a definite improvement at an affordable price. Life is as good as the stock pads, maybe better.

    Reliable strut mounts & bearings

^ Forgive me for pointing this out but they WERE in stock at Rock Auto, both the Moog and the Monroe kits. I just checked again and still are, at least as of the moment of this post. And, I know you know what you are doing, but I was repeatedly told that if I was using the stock springs, to...

    Reliable strut mounts & bearings

My experience with the Moog mount and bearing has been good. I upgraded recently to Bilstein HDs (B6) all around on stock springs, and installed new strut mounts and bushing combos at the same time. I got the Moog parts from Rock Auto for about $35 per side, complete - both the mount and the...

Brand new Mazda 3 - rough idle

I guess you know that you replied to a post four years old, long before skyactive was invented. Further, this is the sub forum for Mazdaspeed 3 engines - 2.3L turbocharged direct injection engine cars. Probably will not find anyone here with knowledge of your issue. You might want to search...

CEL and Traction control light on???

Hey, Kevin. You probably did not notice that you replied to a post that was three years old! Chances are that OP and those who responded have long since moved on. Even so, welcome to the forum. I'll try to answer your question. Yes, a number of owners have experienced problems with fraying...

    Car sputters and dies. HELP

Check engine light? If so, get a code reading on the number and report back. Chances are good that will be of enormous value in determining what the problem is. Based on limited info, this could be any one of a dozen or more issues. Let me begin with a simple question: Have you recently...

New struts, what brand should I buy?

Bilstein B6's. Just installed front struts and rear shocks. Superb. Replace the strut top bearings at the same time or you will regret not doing so. It's only $35 per strut more to put in the Moog top bearing and you are asking for grief and having to do it all over again if you don't.

    hypertech max energy programmer

Easy. Maybe use search function? Short answer: keep them on the settings that correspond to your normal settings, which is the default setting on idle speed and 6,700 for rev limiter. Longer answer: It depends on your mods. If you have an aftermarket rear motor mount or stiffer mounts...

    Running lean 14.8 WOT

Keep the Hypertech. That is not your problem. We can debate and put that red herring issue to bed later. You absolutely have something wrong with your Dash Hawk. RPM does not jump around like that. Serious monitoring issue. Once you get that straightened out we can help you with AFR. You...

Exhaust leak? Have no clue what is wrong! HELP PLEASE!

OP: Did you ever get your problem resolved? I'm thinking that posters above are right about load based tuning not needing to reach 18 psi to produce the same engine load and power level. This is why I recommend in addition to datalogging that guys buy a simple stopwatch and learn how to use...

    side mount turbo manifold?

What are your other mods? Turbo manifold is not a power mod unless you are fully bolted and custom AP tuned and running a BNR 3 or big turbo.

    Tuning question

Yes. You are missing something. Patience. One big install is one big fail. I see a train wreck if you throw all of that stuff on the car at one time, load a stage 2 OTS map and go WOT. Slow down. There are a hundreds of things that can go wrong in doing mods. If one of them happens when...

    MS6 Fujita CAI on a 2013 MS3

Why would you want to do that given the large number of proven quality intakes? If it's from your old car, just sell it and use the proceeds to do it right. If SRI is where you are headed, you can get a good Mazdaspeed gen 2 specific one pretty cheap and know it will work right and will not...
