    MP3 or CIVIC SI???

I owned a 2002 Honda Civic SiR (Canadian Si) previous to the Mazda, and if you are worried about defects, stay the hell out of a Civic! They had to take mine back. In the course of 17,000kms: Visit... 1. Big rattle in dash - replaced screw that was free in dash. 2. Rattle in passenger rear...

    Tire replacement==what did you use?

Personally, I would stick with the same or higher speed rating than stock (unless we are talking snows, than I would go no less than an "H", when the stock tires are "V" or greater). On the Protege5, we are talking about a "V" or better. The choices in tires broaden when you consider a 205/50-16...

    Toyo v. Dunlop: Dunlop ScAm

I don't plan to buy the Dunlop SP Sport 5000m's when they need replacement either, but not because they are bad, but I want some higher performance. I am thinking of: Dunlop SP Sport 9000 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS That, or sell my rims and get a set of MP3 alloys...

something is wrong, by car eats too much gas

To each his own but... I like fun cars. Fun cars like gas a little more than the regular cars. Really fun cars really like the gas. If I made myself drive like others are detailing here(for mileage sake), I don't think I would want to drive anymore... would be too boring. Besides, it is easy to...

Weight reduction, the way to go???

Where did you get these numbers: 100lbs = 0.1 sec?? If your car weighed 1000lbs less that would be approx. 1700+lbs... putting your power to weight ratio at better than the first gen. Lotus Elise! I expect that you would improve your 1/4 mile time by more than 1 second. If you want lighter...

    Winters - first purchase.

Actually, 195/55-15 are SMALLER, by 0.3 inches overall, the 195/60-15 are LARGER, be 0.5 inches. However, in snow I would rather go a little larger. By the way, the MP3 and Mazdaspeed tire setup are larger still so I foresee no problems with going a little larger. (Stock 23.7") (Mazdaspeed 24.5"...

    Protege5 insurance

Holy rip-off Batman! :wtf: $987 / year premium $300 deductable $100 incidental Full replacement coverage for 2 years from purchase date. By the way, I just traded in my SiR, and the insurance for that was $1433 / year, with the same coverage. The P5 is NOT considered a sports car but a family...

    JDM this... JDM that

One of the reasons I really like the MP5 (and own one), is that I don't feel like I need to do anything to the exterior, as it looks great as it is... sorry if it sounds like I am repeating myself. But, as usual I would like to encourage anyone to do whatever they feel they need to to be happy...

Advice on putting MSP exhaust on P5

Thanks LAVA, it helps me alot, but not my wallet. I want the MSP muff now... I don't think you said where you got it though. Was that purchased at a dealer or second hand?

    JDM this... JDM that

Diddo... in my own humble and very inoffensive Canadian opinion, I think the MP5 and MSP are one of those cars where it just looks rught as it is and the additional cladding just looks a tad... (gasp) Pontiac Grand Prix-ish.

Advice on putting MSP exhaust on P5

So the MSP exhaust bolts right up and only needs the length of pipe between the muffler and the tip shortened? Great! Actually, I should invite my buddy down with his MSP and take his off and see for myself... I'll take a picture of it unshortened, and if it is only around $195usd ($250cd??)...

Thanks YP5... very helpful, I will look a little harder next time. I noticed in the thread that some dealerships will sell you the parts while others won't. Any reasons why they shouldn't? I think I can do this as my wife talked me into not getting a sunroof ($800 option), so I can probably put...
